Wireless isn't wireless if you need wires.

Purchased the 5-in-1 Weather Station (01092DIA1) for a remote industrial site with neither power or WIFI, though advertised as  having "wireless connectivity"  and "solar power."

Read the fine print.

The "solar" only powers the head unit that gathers the data...not the device that archives the data.

The "wireless" part requires an on-site WIFI. The remote camera paired with the device comes with a cell  modem option but this device only works when you have WIFI...absolutely useless.

What short-sighted cubicle dweller decided everyone in the world has wall jacks for power and WIFI?

Hello Robert,

This product can be used as a stand alone weather station where the sensor communicates with the display. This would be the wireless connection it is referring to. If you want to transmit your data online, then it would need to be plugged into a computer. It should state this on the packaging of your product.  The sensor does take batteries as well. The solar cell is to power an aspirating fan inside the sensor to keep the temperatures accurate while the sun is beating on it. There is no remote camera that comes with the weather station. Please let us know if there is anything further we can assist you with.

Advertising trickery.  When purchasing on line (Cabelas) I can't see the information in the packaging until after I've wasted my money on the device.

Answer this. Can the USB connection provide power to the receiver or only the 5V jack?

Yes, I provided my own camera as part of the remote monitoring set up. My point was that Bushnell considers how their products may be used, your company assumes one type of use only.

Hello Robert,

We appreciate your feedback, and will consider this for future development. It does say in the product research tab that it requires an available USB port on Cabellas.com. The USB is for internet connection only it will not power your device. Thank you.
