5 in 1 rotates about its post. Will that allow correct wind direction in relation to North?

No.  The 5n1 must not rotate on the post.  It must be fixed pointing North/South as per the arrows embossed in the plastic.

Generally you use a screw turned into the mounting post to prevent the 5n1 from rotating.
