Will my Smarthub still work?

When I received the email about the new Acurite Access, I read and understood that the company would no longer support any issues that arise with the old model Smarthub. I decided that since my Smarthub is working fine, I would hold off from purchasing a new Access. Am I now correct in understanding that you are disconnecting all Smarthubs from use? Your email stated that you are ending the manufacturing and support of the Smarthub. Does this really mean it will no longer work?

Essentially you have decided to force all customers to purchase a brand new piece of hardware even though our current hardware works fine, correct?

Very poor business decision Acurite!

An analogy; If Acurite built smartphones like Apples does, with the release of the IPhone X, all past models, iPhone models 1-8 would just stop working. Apple, a company lauded for Customer Service, doesn’t just kill off all old models. They simply stop supporting them. Not Acurite.

I agree.  Just purchased mine ($95) fewer than six months ago.  And paid for a whole ton of stuff to support it.  Very unclear if the existing hardware will stop working, or if they just wont provide tech support.  I have tried calling the help phone number, but have never gotten past number 18 in line.  Very terrible customer service and practices.  Hopefully they will respond to this thread.

Called Acurite last Friday and stayed on phone from number 24 to zero. Their CSR, John was quite pleasant and helpful, yet he informed me that I was correct. Acurite would be cutting off the use of the Smarthub, and I would need to purchase a new Access Hub for $40, plus shipping, if I wished to continue accessing my weather station.
I saw on Saturday that they extended the life of the Smarthub through February 2019, but this is still incredibly poor customer service.
On principle alone, I have begun the process of exploring alternative weather stations from different companies. Burn me once Acurite, and you are dead to me!
