Why penalize customers $$$$

Why are we penalized with cost for an update, recall , enhancement or whatever you want to call it. I have two devices and it will require an $80 outlay to keep what I already have. I hope the big 3 automakers don’t get wind of this unfair charge and start charging for recalls. I bought my devices in 2017 , why was I not given a heads ups the devices are on their last leg so I could have made an educated decision. Then number you have at the bottom of your email is no longer in service it has been changed. Looks like your whole process is broken starting with the Communication via the email. Upgrade should be at no cost or minimal. You are ripping us off !
