Sensor offline and other things...

I installed fresh batteries in the 5-in-1 sensor, mounted it up over my house, and a few hours later I received 2 emails.. 1. loss of signal from sensor 2. Low batteries.. Geez, brand new. Checked them, they are fine.

My PC recognizes the base unit, but it does not update my.aculite dashboard. The sensor(top left) shows a red bar, and all is ok, except it is OFFLINE. WTF!?!? How does one get it ONLINE?

Other beef.. the Windows APP does NOT remember my WU credentials. I am not going to enter them each time I run the thing after a reboot. NONSENSE. It remembers the 12-digit device ID, so why not the WU info?

So which should I be using? The my.aculite.com dashboard or the PC application? There is no clear indication that one should use one or the other, or both. Some clarification would be useful.

I have replaced the transmitter twice and the receiver 3 times and 6 days ago replaced batteries in ALL the units.  The weather station worked as good as usual for 4 DAYS!!!!  Now I am back to lost signal for the last 2 days and it does not appear to want to reconnect.  Why doesn't Acurite make an attempt to figure out the problem and FIX these units??????   This has been a continual problem since I purchased the first unit.

Dwight, did you replace the original batteries because of a low battery warning or because of loss of signal?  If its because loss of signal I would try another channel. I had a similar issue. All worked well for a year then I kept getting disconnects on my hub (not the display). I changed channel and no issue since.

What Simon says. I had the same problem, worked great for a month then loss of signal. Changed batteries, changed channel, & reset for good measure. Been going strong now for 6 months.
Second part of your problem... ditch the Acurite software & get VIS Reader. It's free for basic stuff, but a very reasonable subscription ($18-20 per year) will let you do all you need.

Dwight, you have more patience than I do.

Scott, can you provide a URL for the VIS reader?

Chris,
Sounds like you have a 5 in 1 and a display with PC connect? Could you have changed the channel on the 5 in 1 by accident when you changed the batteries? If your using a Hub or a access then that is not the issue.

ChrisThe App runs the connection to/from the display and reports to the MyAcurite (and maybe WU) Servers.
The Dashboard is how you control your account connections and View data (from anywhere) (This is where I set up WU sharing)
Note: I do not have a PC connect device, so there may be other features that it can do, that I am unaware of

Thanks for the replies to everyone. I have the PC app running and it appears to be reporting (and saving as a CSV) the data from my station every 12 minutes. However, what I see on my station (It mysteriously went ONLINE) does not match what I see on my online dashboard. The temp and rainfall are the only two that match up(kind of). The others (Humidity(outside), pressure are both off. This boggles my mind. WHY? Cuz the data is transmitted to the myacurite site from the PC. So why is it different? Seems to me like the website is not displaying BASIC data properly. I see this as a programming bug, which must be fixed.  Here is a chart:

Station                                          myacurite dashboard
Temp: 16                                      16.0
Hum: 89%                                    85%
Bar: 100.8                                     999
Rain: 1.016                                   1.02

The temp is fine most of the time, but the unit does not round properly (16.0 - 16.4 should show 16, 16.5 - 16.9 should show 17) Not working properly. My cheap units that only do temp do it better.,.. only $15

Humidity and barometer are a bit off, however unacceptable.

Rain appears to be ok, but too soon to tell. Need a decent rain storm to test.

The PC app does not remember the WU credentials. WOW! Needs to be fixed or removed. One should not need to rely on the dashboard to update WU. One location only, please. I have still been unable to connect to WU.

The android app requires a password with different credentials than the web site(use of upper case). This inconsistency more than simply annoying.

I am extremely disappointed that this  instrument manufacturer would sell something which does not work properly. AND, I am quite tempted to return this unit and splurge for a Davis unit.. more $, but peace of mind. Acurite is still in the amateur stage, IMHO.
