It would be nice if we at least knew a rough pricing point, I assume you're taking on Davis with the Atlas models.  I was about to buy a system, but with these vague Atlas teasers, that's on hold until I get more concrete information.

You know what? As a potential new customer, your non-answers on this thread are getting a little old. I too was ready to buy a competitors product this spring but held off when you made your Atlas announcement at CES in Jan. It has now been over 5 months and you have given those of us waiting nothing to keep our interest ... no pricing, no release date, no documentation, not even anything new on marketing hype. Vaporware ... that is what I think you have. Give us something to keep the interest or just admit that you have nothing. I am not the only one who thinks this ... read the forums.

They are not going to give any information just the same copy and paste response. It was going to be released in April. It's delay and them having no information tells us there must of been a serious problem with the unit. It's kind of scary wonder if it will be worth buying 1 it might have issues. I need to replace my 5 in 1 and have 2 other people lined up waiting to buy the Elite or whatever I buy.

I've started researching the Davis and Ambient Weather stations might go in that direction if I don't hear anything on the Acurite Elite soon. Only thing is I'll have to convert 5 other friends over to what I decide to go with since we are all connected on Acurite. Do some reading on Weather Underground they have very useful information on weather stations look under Buy a Weather Station.

I signed up for Beta Testing a while ago. Haven't heard a word. I don't even thing they are beta testing it yet.

Clearly they have a major problem. It was supposed to be April, then Summer, now they are not talking. Considering all the issues they have with the current 5 in 1 Sensors I would be very wary of buying anything new from them. They were never able to stabilize the 5 in 1. It continues to be a disaster to this day. Buyer BEWARE! They may be number 1 because they are cheap but they are also number 1 in defects, problems, and returns.

Yes I believe they have a major problem with the new units. it was supposed to be released in April. (They denied this) but it was clearly posted on the front page. I don't believe they are beta testing either because I don't think they even have the product yet. All they have done is lie lie lie to their customers even got nasty with a few of them. Refuse to acknowledge there is an issue. They have tried some PR damage control but it made it worst for them. Now they refuse to even respond anymore. Great Customer Relations! Really? what a joke.

Here is what I've done since I'm tied of the lies and deception Acurite has done. I've kept my hubs this allows me to monitor my sensors all over the house including Refrigerator and Freezer. I'm replacing the 5 in 1 with a Davis unit. The unit is very high quality and most people are leaving Acurite and going to Davis since the damage Acurite has done to their customers.

The hub and sensors work fine good enough for what I need it for. The 5 in 1 is the critical unit. I need that High Quality and accurate so Davis fills those needs. I'd like to get rid of all my acurite equipment soon.

You will have problems with Davis to.  I live on the  water and I have had trouble with Davis for years.  The problem is you have a good amount of money  invested  in the Davis and when it goes bad you will need to replace so you are out another 500 to 1000 dollars.  I consider acurite throw away units so when one goes bad I just buy a new one.  You can do this many more times with the less expensive units. Believe me there are always problems with out door units that work in the sun and rain all the time.  Just food for thought.

I got my 5 in 1 at Costco for under $80.  For the price it's quite accurate.  Yes, throw away I suppose.  We have no idea how much these Atlas units cost.  Will they be in the same price range as the Davis units?  I have no idea.  Will they be throw way priced units. I'm not counting on it.  So then it comes to Cost/Reliability, Longevity.  Will it hold up as well or better then a Davis unit?  These are some of the unanswered questions people have.

They will NOT tell you or anyone else anything that hasn't already been released at this point until they are ready!    They won't answer those or any other questions.   You're just going to have to wait like the rest of us.  There's a lot of questions I have myself but it's just a waste of time at this point.

It's been a long wait and a few delays so far, and who knows when anything will happen but AcuRite.  They're not going to say anything until they're ready.   Why worry about it to much?  Get on with life.  Check back here and there.  What happens will happen.   The great thing is if you really NEED one now, there are a lot of other company's making great weather stations you could look into getting.

There's so much that's unknown including PRICE, that when you do get all your questions answered, you may find it really doesn't work for you.    Then you wasted all this time waiting for something you now don't want and go with someone else.  

My Cheap 5 in 1 works just fine right now.  I have no problem waiting for a while.   I have no idea if I'm going to upgrade or not.    Why stress over it?  Good luck.

It is sold and shipped directly through Amazon. We do not warranty 3rd party sellers on Amazon.

The product must be in one of the countries where we have authorized retailers that sell this specific product.

You are able to provide a receipt dated within the last year that meets the criteria above.

Hey Acurite, guess what? Late summer / early fall is now! Your silence is deafening when it comes to information about the status of the Atlas series.  Do you even have a prototype of this product yet? Or is it still just the Photoshopped concept shown on your flyer released way back in January?

I got tired of waiting and picked up an Oregon Scientific WMR 300A for peanuts.  It's a solid unit and performs everything this thing is supposed to.  Quick transmit times, very accurate rain and a good anemometer.  You can get a brand new WMR 300a for $129 / free shipping.  Unbelievable. I'd bet this Acurite unit will run $450+ and will probably contain at least some of the unreliable sensor chips found on the 5 and 1 like temp/humidity/baro.  Just my guess.

I have been critical on this forum of the way Acurite has handled the release of the new Atlas series. But seriously folks, this is Acurite's forum and they have been gracious enough to allow us post our criticisms about the way they are marketing the Atlas. If you want to promote or discuss other brands, this is not the appropriate place. Take your comments to the customer forums for those companies or to a non-branded forum.

Good luck. This unit has such poor reviews, I wouldn't want to risk it. The price was $500 originally, and look how much they've trimmed that! Most that have tried them have found they die a quick death with the thermometer/hygrometer.

Wow, we're into November and it's still not out yet?   WOW!!!!!  Well, I did say months ago that I wouldn't expect it until next year.  If you need a system, look elsewhere.  They gave out a couple expected release dates and have blown past them and it looks like there's no new news either.  That just, in general, is bad news.  It's pretty bad when you're late to your own date, but to do it a few times and then just nothing at all, WOW again.     This sounds like a product that maybe they shouldn't have announced until CES 2018.  Maybe 2019?   

I'm not even worried about it.  Once in a while, I see a new post about when it's coming out and I'll reply, but that's about as much interest as I have right now.  Like I said months ago, It won't be coming out until at least early 2018.  Now I'm kind of thinking summer of 2018.   So I would plan for that, and if it happens to come earlier, great, but it's already beyond late.

Is it out yet?  It's almost 2018.  2019?  That would be beyond ridiculous at that point.  Really though, it's pretty ridiculous it hasn't been released.  If you're going to announce a new product coming out at such and such time frame and about 11 months later, it's still not out,  that's pretty bad.  It's not like anyone here forced them to announce the product.  How the hell can they be this far off the mark?   I think I'll stick with my early 2018 release that I said months ago.  Will they show it off at CES 2018 like they did at CES 2017?   My thinking is they show it off and say it's coming out the following month.  At this point, I think they need to build up some more hype once again.

I think it's time everyone moved on to a different Brand. From my perspective this company is very poorly run from engineering to product development to sales and marketing. If you consider what has gone on here over the past couple of years you have to ask yourself, Do I really have the confidence in this company and it's products to take yet another chance of getting screwed. My 5 in 1 crapped out again and I'm done with AcuRite no matter what they make. 

The delay of almost a year on these new products should indicate that the product is probably being redesigned and MAYBE manufactured. From Final Design to Retail Ready should take no more that 18 months. These products are far beyond that which means they don't work and must be redesigned. You will not see these products for sale in 2017.

Move on folks!

It is just another missed projection forthe Atlas release date. Late summer / Early fall ... that's what I read in this forum on several posts from Acurite employees. Based on the commonly accepted season dates for 2017 in North America, summer was June 20 through September 21, fall is September 22 through December 20. So I would think by definition late summer / early fall would be approximately August 6 through November 8. Maybe Acurite gives these Atlas release date projections based on some other continent?  Maybe Australia, since that is one of the few places outside of North America where they market their products?

I don't really know if that is the basis of their release date projections, but maybe it is one explanation. Last I heard reported in another forum, there was not even a FCC application posted yet for the Atlas series. Maybe they don't need one if it turns out the Atlas just  a repackaged version of their old 5 in 1. Wouldn't that be a "kick in the pants" for everyone who has been patiently waiting for the Atlas? ;) Since they don't tell us anything, it is anyone's guess.

The FCC web site databases are woefully out-of-date.  I don't know why bushman thinks information needs to be posted there before they are put on the market.  That was proven wrong last year when Acurite was selling equipment labeled with FCC-assigned IDs long before anything showed up on the FCC web site.

I'm also pretty sure some filings can be held back from public display for competitive reasons.

As far as "release dates" go, I've no clue where you guys have been coming up with them, but my memory has been pretty fuzzy for much of 2017 due to medical issues, so I might have missed something.  Was there a press release that gave dates other than "later in 2017"?

If you're relying on what Acurite employees have said in this forum to be firm commitments, that's a mistake on your part.  I've read their postings as nothing more than optimistic target dates they hope to reach, but as it often is in the real world, those dates slip for all kinds of reasons.  It's not unusual at all.

In any case, Acurite likes to keep things quiet.  Why telegraph information to your competitors if you don't need to?  They would obviously love to hear about Acurite's pricing and release dates in advance so they can adjust their marketing plans.  I'm sure La Crosse, Ambient, and others are listening very closely.

Just because they aren't saying anything isn't justification for all the crazy talk that's been posted here.  My guess is that some are trying to goad Acurite into talking.  It doesn't seem to be working.

All the crazy speculation will soon be irrelevant.

All the speculation and concern about the lack of availability of the Atlas, with the those saying they are bailing won't affect AcuRite's stance on delivery of this product. It will happen when AcuRite feels the product is ready.  I commend them for the cooler heads that are prevailing in corporate to make sure this product is truly ready for market.

Doesnt appear like a Christmas 2017 will happen !!!!!  Acurite has been good to me -- working with me to fix one of my defective units -- however i dont think all this has been handled right - which has caused them to lose perspective customers -- Just my two cents

The paucity of information from Acurite about the status of the Atlas products is certainly annoying for potential customers and has not been good for Acurite's overall credibility. However, if the discussion in this thread proves anything it is that there is no lack of interest in the Atlas. If someone felt they wanted or needed a weather station right away, they have already moved on. For the rest of us still waiting ... if the Atlas is ever released for sale and proves to be a good product at a reasonable price, we will forgive and forget and happily spend our money.

Please understand that currently the My AcuRite and it's products are only supported within the US, Canada, Australia and UK. As we expand into other areas we will be making adjustments to the program to allow for these types of things that might appear in other countries/languages. We do not have a time frame of if or when this will happen. We recommend checking back in the future.

You should be able to manually set the time on this weather station.  Press the SET (Gear and Wrench) button to enter manual setup mode. The time zone will begin blinking.


To adjust the currently selected (flashing) preference item, press and release the “Up ” or “Down” buttons.


To save your adjustments, press and release the “ Gear and Wrench” button again to adjust the next preference. The preference set order is as follows:


TIME ZONE (PST MST CST EST AST HAST AKST)


AUTO DST (Automatically adjust time -/+ on DST dates)

You guys aren't doing any testing - by giving it to a few customers to test for bugs/errors/problems before selling to the general public  ----  Would think it would be wise to ---  since your making such a great leap forward.  Would think you would want to make a good first fist impression  --  be nice if it was the ultimate weather station with all the features to please the weather geeks.  I would be willing to be a tester of the Atlas/Elite.  --  I already was the one to bring it to Acurites attention the problems with your model 06027   ---   Ask Matt

Rachell -- Could you pass it on ---  I would like to be a beta tester for the Altas Elite.   Was told there would be two sessions  -- I would like to be a beta tester.  I have experience with acurites and other brands -- and have the time to report any bugs .  I really want this to be the Ulimate weather station  --  and hoping this wont fall short.  Have over 35 years of consistently maintaining a weather stations.

Just my luck bought the 5-in-1 Pro + with two sensors and lightening detector about 3 months ago!! But will buy the new Atlas when ever it comes available!! Would love to be a beta tester but so would a million other people also!! I have signed up several times but it probably doesn't matter.

They keep pushing the release date because I guess they need to get rid of the old stock? They said April/Spring, but if you notice they are having sales on weather stations. Trust me I'm waiting for it even tried to beta test. All I hear are Crickets. I have other houses to setup (setup 9 houses so far and 3 waiting) and have people asking which 1 to buy. I've told everyone to hold off until Atlas comes out and what the pricing is. We are all in the same boat no paddles and blind folded no clue what's going on. lol

I am in the process of setting up all new Tripod and extended mast height for the new Atlas Elite system you all will be releasing soon. Will the mounting area for these units be 1/2" mounting like all the other Acu-rite products? This information will help me to determine what all I need for my station set-up.

Just a fyi, they will not give us further information on the Atlas series unless the information is definite, because we will all hold them to whatever information they give us and get upset if something changes unexpectedly. This is the way I am viewing this. We just need to be patient.

Mirwin2  --  Its hard to be patient  ---  lookin like it could be a real good weather station  --- hopefully they wont drop the ball  -----  I think they should of not announced it  -- and just given the stations to beta test first --  get the bugs out  --  then offer it for sale ---  however its too late now --  cats out of the bag -----  hopefully its ready 2/3 months for Christmas 2017 ----  would be a good present for a weather geek

I think they'd be better off just coming clean with their customers.  Stop all this coy bs about not being able to add any more info, and go with full open kimono.  Admit that their original plan was overly optimistic, and let us know where they really are in the development process.

Late summer/early fall of Next year is much more believable!   5 years?  That's a little excessive.   Why company's keep doing this?  They should set a LATE date and if they get it out early, everyone is like Hey, Great for them.   If they meet that later date, well they're right on time.  Why company's keep setting dates and then failing to deliver when they said they would?!?!?!    That just makes any company look like a joke and is a huge FAIL.   It's your OWN date!!!!  That is why it's so bad.

The saddest part? Acurite has gone radio silence. They don't even care to step in and explain themselves or reassure their customers of their product, but most of all be honest with their loyal customers on what really is going on. I'm willing to bet Acurite told it's board admins to shut up and not respond anymore, but really that's making it worst then the copy and paste responses they post. You don't run a business like this you'll go under fast. 

If it was me and I was the company President I'd come on here and post an apology explaining we had some delays in the product and explain what's going on. I'd also release some new details and features about the product to keep us excited about the upcoming product.

THAT'S how you handle your customers! I would be happy they were honest with me and I'd stand by Acurite and continue to be a loyal customer. Right now everyone is pissed off and looking for alternative products. I've spent A LOT of money with Acurite and I'm very disappointed in how they handled this situation and their customers.

I started here (at Acurite)  shopping for weather stations. It didn't take me long to notice the Atlas announcement on the right side of the home page and that line, given all the posts of 5 in 1 problems and malfunctions and horrendous customer service, the new line seemed worth the wait. The coy attitude of Acurite staffers regarding the Atlas intro date has really irked me, so much so that I've begun looking elsewhere (like Ambient). Right now I have zero trust in this company mostly for their treatment of its customers. Bad, bad move.

Hello Gene Merritt - I'm right there with you on your sentiments towards Acurite.  I too have begun shopping for a replacement for my 5 in 1 sensor.  I thought the replacement was going to be the Atlas model, but I've soured somewhat on Acurite to the point of shopping other manufacturers now.

My 5 in 1 has worked great for the most part.  Best of all, I got it from Costco for under $80.   I did get the pro option but it failed after a short time, and so put it back to stock again.  It's pretty actuate and reliable.  I don't use their software.  I use software called Meteobridge that you Flash on a Mini Router.   It uses very little power and it's almost set and forget.  The last auto update screwed something up and I started getting e-mails from some places about not getting data, so I logged into it, and easily rolled it back a version and all was good once again.     It just works and works and works.  I have mine mounted above my Antenna which is on the roof of my house. So I don't have issues with crap getting inside of it and causing issues, or anything like that.  

Davis wouldn't give you much in a trade in.  Like I said, I got mine for under $80 NEW, what do you think Davis would give you?  $10 off, if that.    I can compare my Data to a Davis Station near by and it's pretty close if not dead on with temp and so forth.    So a fraction of the price and working as well, how can you go wrong.  So I have some hope for the new weather stations.  Hopefully, cheaper, but just as good or better then Davis.

Considering these d-bags can't seem to figure out how to get their lightning detector to work with their hub or its replacement, the Access, even though it works with their little display screens, I don't trust them por nada, ese.

The lightning detector module on the Atlas works fine on the Access.  Here's a myAcurite screen shot from my lightning activity last night.




If you're talking about the $20 stand-alone sensor, I suspect that will be next on the list for myAcurite compatibility.  It just seems to have gone forgotten in that crack between the "SmartHUB and the Access".  If enough people request it, I'm sure they'll add it.

The Million Dollar Question! LOL  Acurite advertised the Elite to be released in April of this year, but now has pushed it forward to end of Summer or Fall. As I live in Florida I would loved to have this before Storm Season :(

They told me to sign up for Beta. I did... All I hear is crickets.  I've contacted Davis for information on their Davis Vantage Pro2 I'm starting to get tired of the run around from Acurite. 

Now Jennifer with copy and paste the usually but I'll save her the time.

You may want to go look at some other company's with real products for sale!!!  Who knows how long of a wait it'll be or the prices.  Lots of other company's selling weather stations.  Davis for example is really popular.  See them all over.

I have the 5 in One for a few years now and just found out about these newer ones.  This isn't the first company to announce a product and say it'll be around around such and such, and then get delayed over and over again.  So my guess is late this year.  Oct/Dec time frame.  It is pretty annoying to announce a new product, say it'll come out at a point THEY picked, and then blow right on past that.  Better off to say nothing at all then piss off your customer base.  Yet so many company's do just that.    Better off to give a late launch date, and then surprise everyone of it coming out sooner, because if you fail, at least you still look OK.   Instead the company's play these games.

My 5 in 1 is still working, though I had to remove the Pro Upgrade solar panel that I had on it as it failed and go back to the stock one.  The sun beating down on it just doesn't seem to hold up well. I also don't use their software, I use a program called Meteobridge.  Go Google it.  But basically it's weather station reporting software that you can FLASH onto a small cheap router.  It supports a bunch of weather stations and will report the weather to a bunch of locations.   The great thing is it's always running, on a device that's low powered.  It's almost a set and forget device.  I don't have to leave my Windows Computer always running as it's far, far, far more power hungry.  I hope they update the software to support these new weather stations in the future.

The product line was announced at the CES show in January 2017.  it was expected to be released in April.  Lots of companies make product announcements at CES.  Not all of them have the products ready for release at the time of the show.  The issue is the Atlas line hasn't been released for sale.  Obviously after being burned on the initial release date and some subsequent pushes of that date, AcuRite has nothing to gain by providing additional dates.  

From a marketing standpoint if they project too far out they lose sales, and if they push too early, folks are unhappy.  We do know however (as stated in a different thread in this forum) that preliminary sales data recently got mistakenly displayed by Amazon.  So if the information is there at Amazon, you have to come to some conclusion that it probably is close.  

In the mean time understand that after the problems that occurred with the Smarthub and My Acurite software release in the summer of 2016, AcuRite folks have learned a lesson and definitely will not let this product out into the retail market until they have complete confidence that the product will perform as stated.  They have a lot more to lose by pushing out a product before it is absolutely ready, than upsetting some folks by not releasing it on their early broad projected dates.  

So its obvious that you won't get apologies for missing a projected timeframe if the product isn't ready.  And you won't get anything concrete if there is still ongoing work on the product or software.  None of us here know the available resources that Acurite has nor do we know what issues if any are outstanding.  

The bottom line is complaining here will not move anything along and we can only hope that the extra time means that AcuRite is being very diligent about releasing a good product line.  While the bean counters would probably love to be cashing in on the product investment, there are cooler heads in corporate understanding the damage to the corporate name if this product fails to perform.  I commend them for being diligent in the process.  For those who feel they can't wait, then move forward and find yourself another vendor.   No need to stick around here complaining.

Jack, If management had released a version of your explanation there would have been a lot more tolerance and positive sentiment among Acurite's current and future high-end customers. The way it was handled just created a sense of mistrust in many in that group.

Paulg, If you read the various comments from AcuRite support reps in many of the threads on the Atlas product and its availability, almost everything I wrote above has been mentioned by them.  They have explained the fact that they recognize they had problems with the Smarthub and MyAcurite software, they have said multiple times that the Atlas units will not be released for sale until they feel that they are throughly tested, they have noted the issue with Amazon and the release of the marketing data accidentally.  So for all intents I have added some of my between the lines interpretations of their very public statements.  I really added nothing else that wasn't available in their postings in this support site.  No one likes missed dates for availability of products but I still contend that I'd rather deal with the fall out from that missed date than a defective product.  Once the product gets released the late delivery will soon be forgotten.  You don't forget however a product that you pay your $$ for that is defective.

Right on Rick!! Love it. This whole thing has been a disaster for them. Their employees don't even know how to respond anymore. This has turned into a PR disaster for them now as acurite is getting bashed all over the internet for this atlas / elite issue not just here. They have lost control of this issue. It's just a funny joke now so many of their customers are looking at different weather stations. Sad they refuse to care about their customers and looks like they don't care about themselves either for letting this drag on.

I think it shouldn't of been announced until it was ready for sale and delivery. It's been almost a year and nothing. Should of taken private surveys as to what kind of weather station people wanted- then go forward with the most wanted features. One should check out Weather Flow Weather stations . I have bought that AIR station. They have been more upfront with progress. Although I am waiting on the second part of my station called -SKY which measures wind and rain among other weather stats with no moving parts

I have moved on to another product line. I have had trouble with my 5 and 1 since the upgrade back a few months ago. This has thrown up a red flag to me. AcuRite has been ok for my starter system, but I decided to spend more money and move up in at least a more reliable product. RainWise was my system of choose and could not be happier with the product. Quality and customer service is suburb.

I really see a lot of problems for AcuRite in the future. Customers want direct responses and feedback to their concerns and questions. We all know that word of mouth is the best tool for business..........and this has not happened!!!!  Good Luck AcuRite, hope your future is as bright as mine is with my new RainWise equipment

I've worked for a company that announced a target date of a particular product only to have the date "slide" time and time again.

During the development and testing stages of our product we faced unique challenges that hit us out of left field--and delayed getting the product to the customer! Customers were disappointed and some lost a lot of money because we missed our schedule ! 

Those challenges to deliver the best product we could took our entire team (management, employees, manufacturing resources) a lot of time to test, fix, test again. Sometimes we had to test again after some obscure test discovered an unforseen problem ! 

But in the end, our product was superb  and became another market leader. Customers came to understand that we encountered a lot of  "unknown unknowns" during our product developmental phase.

I've come to understand that it's really hard to hold to a particular date and I think we AcuRite customers should have patience and understanding of the complexities and pressure AcuRite's own product developmental team is facing.

When the AcuRite Elite weather stations were announced by AcuRite, I enjoyed the press releases and looked forward to a 2017 summer release. A season or two late is perfectly fine with me--given my understanding of product delays. 

Let's all take some time and thank AcuRite's entire team as we all work through the growing pains and frustration that comes along with the invention and marketing of a new and exciting new product.

Over the years I have been a weather enthusiast, AcuRite has gained my confidence and loyalty. Their kindness, technical competence and leadership in the world of weather stations is something I am truly grateful for.

Hello All,

We do appreciate that you are excited about the Atlas system. We are as well. We want to make sure we have a product that meets your expectations, and you are happy with.  When we have more details we will be happy to let you know about them. Our original release date was in the summer, we have moved that back to summer/ fall of this year. The reason for this is we want to extensively test and make sure the product is functioning as designed. We have learned a very valuable lesson from the migration, and do not want to make the same mistake again. We know that our customers do not want to have to go through this again as well. We do appreciate your understanding in this matter. Please let us know if there is anything further we can assist you with.

Hello Jenny  --  I would like to be a Beta - Tester for your new atlas/elite ---- I was the 1st one to bring attention to the problems of model 06027 -- which I brought to your attention --- now this problem is fixed

Is "summer/late fall" a Freudian slip? Did you mean 'late summer /fall'? Quite frankly, the rest of your message is not very informative, suggesting that Acurite just promised too much too fast.

Of course.  There's Alpha Testing, which is internal only, then it spreads out to more people for Beta Testing to workout more bugs from a larger group, and then the release version which you'd be using buying the product.    Since this product was suppose to be released already, one can only assume a Beta tester maybe found a issue?  Who knows, but for sure at this point, it would be under Beta Testing.  It would be foolish to announce a new product and set a date when it's still in the Alpha testing stage.  

How many Beta testers there are?  How long they have been testing for?  Who they are?  You'll never know.  At this point in time, I wouldn't think they would pick anyone new.  You never know.

Again, I'd rather company's say it's going to release such and such time which is later then they think it would ever be, and then surprise everyone when it's for sale early because there wasn't any issues you didn't expect.   

Think of it this way, on Star Trek, Scotty was known as the "Miracle Worker". How he always gave a repair estimate by a factor of 4.   Get it done sooner and now he's the "Miracle Worker".

Why don't company's just do this?  Say it'll come out in November, and it come out in September!  Wow, now you look great.  You were able to get out out sooner.  If you have issues and delays and it doesn't come out until November, you still seem like a good company. If instead it's a Delay, Delay, Delay by your date YOU set, you look bad.  Yet another idiot company that can't deliver when they say they can.  Can't trust them, go with someone else!!!  It's a pretty simple thing to do.

I wish company's tried to be more like Apple in this area.  Keep quite about anything NEW until it's about ready for release.   The few times you have to announce something early because the market rumors are going crazy, and you announce something coming out in 6 months, the Apple Watch, or now the HomePod, not coming out until December.  You can count on the HomePod coming out in December.  Not Jan, Feb, or March next year.  You may have a hard time getting one as demand is higher then supply, but they will be out then and getting sold.    Why other company's can't seem to figure this out?  If you're going to announce something and set a time frame, you better have it out by then.   It really is pretty simple.

Product development is seldom the linear, surprise-free process we all wish for, especially when the goals are ambitious and challenging. Hank, above, understands that. So do I.

Jennifer's response is remarkably candid. Respect her and AcuRite for that, and let them work to make this product absolutely right.

Come on, it's a weather station, not rocket science.   Putting out a late date and then possibly releasing early is not linear.  If you can't set a date and stick to it, then set no date at all.  If you have to say anything, say it's coming out in the future, just not when.  The future could be 1 month or 1 year, but at least you haven't broken your set date.   Trying to defend this is laughable.   You're part of the problem in why so many company's keep doing this crap, because people like you think it's acceptable. It's NOT!   You either set no time frame or set a date you can't possibly blow past.  Then you're never late!!!  This is really pretty simple.  

See I get what they're trying to do.  They set a date, People hold off on buying a new system from someone else, then it gets pushed back and back and the same people hold on and on .  That is why it's done.  Pretty sure they knew they were never going to hit the release date.  They just drag you along, it's almost here, OK, now it's almost here.  Soon, it'll be ready, just wait.  Hangup's, HAHA.  Ya right.

I believe you hit the nail on the head with several points you made JBDragon! 
  1. It's a weather station - not new technology, and not as complex as a spaceship, or even a smart phone.
  2. The original release date I saw, was "Coming Soon".  I believe that I saw this late last year.  To me, "Coming Soon" means weeks, not months or years.
  3. I believe that they did hype the release to get people to hold off buying a weather station from someone else.  So far, that strategy has worked on me, but I'm getting tired of waiting.  If they released tomorrow, they'd have to have a product far superior to the competition for me to buy it now, as this cat-n-mouse game has soured me on Acurite.
  4. There is no way a competent development program can miss their target release date by so much, when the project is not deploying cutting edge technology.
If they were not capable of hitting the target date because as some have said, "they are a small family owned business", then they shouldn't have mentioned the new product until they were ready to ship it.

See you get it exactly!!!  Why is so hard for others to understand?  The excuses around here are really pretty weak.  I'm sure they have excuses for everything in life.

As I have said, Don't be late for your own date!!!

We are sorry you are frustrated by this matter. We have put general information out about the product due to us being at the CES trade show in January. Some of our customers go to this, and it did feature the Atlas systems. Some of these customers are registered to the community forum. We decided instead of people asking questions about the Atlas system we would release some information regarding the system. This is what we have done. If you view our website and the link for the Atlas systems it does say it's coming soon. It does not have a specific date, and we have never released a specific date.  This is going to be based on perception. Some people look at coming soon as 2 weeks, some look at it as 2 months, and some look at it in 2 years. We do intend on releasing the Atlas system this year.  We did not want to leave our customers high and dry after the CES show without any information. As I stated above we want to do extensive testing on this to make sure it is functioning correctly, and if that means the release is pushed back it is something we will do. We do not want our customers upset with their new product that they purchased. We pride ourselves in our customer service, and support that we offer.

Jennifer no accurite hasnt said will be ready for example November 2 2017 but it has said it will be ready in early spring. - early summer. --- late summer early fall so the above statement isn't completely truthful
