What classifies as a rain event? Does it reset at midnight or the start of rain? What about a 3 day event?

myAcurite no longer uses the concept of "rain events".  Instead they measure rain from local midnight.

Some of the displays still use "rain events".  It has to do with with the rate rain has fallen and the behavior of the barometer.  You could have several rain events in a single day, or maybe one extremely long rain event that might span a day or two.

Ok cool, so it will reset to zero at midnight... but i can manipulate a graph to time on the dashboard to see a tropical storm total, right?

The new HD display has a rolling 48hr rainfall that is useless. Depending on the rainfall rate on day 2, the 48hr amount starts going backwards. I wish they would have just stuck with "today's rainfall" . And unless you are awake at midnight on the last day of the month to observe total rain for the month, there is no display that tells you last month's rainfall. Once it resets, its gone.
