Weather Station model 02099 accuracy

To check the accuracy between the display and the outdoor sensor I placed them side by side (indoors!) expecting close to identical readings.
The outdoor sensor reads about 10% below on temp. and about 20% higher on humidity.
Can someone explain why this would occur & would it correct itself outdoors.
Is calibration an option?

Hello andjen07,

We are very sorry for the delay in response. The accuracy rating is +/-2° and 5% per unit. Please verify you are using the battery recommendations and try the troubleshooting options listed below. This model can be calibrated. I have also provided those steps below. Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thank you.

•Verify you are using fresh alkaline batteries or lithium batteries (when temperature is below -4°F/-20°C) in sensor.

•Quality brand batteries are recommended, including Duracell, Rayovac, Energizer, or Kirkland.

•Verify batteries are fresh. The battery expiration date should be at least 6 years out. Batteries can lose 3% power or more every year in storage.

•Heavy duty, extra strength or generic / store brand batteries are not recommended for use with AcuRite products because they may cause performance irregularities due to the way these types of batteries disperse power. Each battery should not exceed 1.6 volts.

•Rechargeable batteries are not recommended for use with AcuRite products because they may cause performance irregularities due to the voltage instability of these types of batteries.

•Mixing different battery types (brands, old/new, etc.) is not recommended.

Hard reset:

- Bring both units side by side and remove all batteries, unplug display if it has an ac adapter

- Change the ABC Switch to a different setting and ensure that both are on the same setting. example - If on A, move both to C

- Place batteries into the outdoor sensor first

- Place batteries into display

- Allow units to sit side by side until they connect

The indoor / outdoor temperature and humidity readings, and barometric pressure can be calibrated on the display to improve accuracy. Calibration can improve accuracy when sensor placement or environmental factors impact the data accuracy.

1. To access calibration mode, press AND HOLD the “UP“,“GEAR”, and “DOWN“ buttons simultaneously for at least 5 seconds.

2. To adjust the currently selected (flashing) item, press and release the “UP“ or “DOWN“ buttons to calibrate the data value higher or lower from the actual reading.

3. To save your adjustments, press and release the “GEAR” button to adjust the next preference. The “WRENCH” icon will remain illuminated next to calibrated values.

The preference set order is as follows:

BAROMETRIC PRESSURE (must be set to MANUAL mode to calibrate)*

*To change from AUTO to MANUAL pressure mode and vice versa, press AND HOLD the “GEAR” button for 10 seconds. The “WRENCH” icon will appear next to the barometric pressure to indicate that MANUAL mode has been activated. Press and HOLD the “GEAR” button for 10 seconds to return to AUTO mode.
