After upgrading from the AcuRite smartHUB to the new Access Hub, we lost all our weather history on the MyAcuRite site. Anyone else having this problem?

I will hold off installing my Access hub until I hear that your problem has been solved. I also have a Smarthub and do not wish to,lose my history. I note that the Access instructions give no information for those of us "upgrading" but rather assume that everyone is starting from scratch.

I went ahead and bought the upgrade Access unit so they can't take it away! I'm just waiting to actually install it. There have been way too many problems with these Internet interface devices.

I think there is some confusion about the "replace" function.  It's not intended to bring over historical data, but to bring over your settings.

MyAcurite doesn't keep historical data past 30 days.

Detailed data you are correct, however, long term High and Lows are kept and stored... That is the information that has been lost...

If your PWS is on Weather Underground your historical data is saved there. MyAcurite only saves the last 30 days

Jennifer, Please update the official install instructions to include replacement methods as well as new install. Then have them put somewhere on your support site so they can be access by all and have a better idea on how to bring their Acurite Access units online.

Neither—I own the upgrade but have not tried to install it. I will wait until these teething problems are resolved.

I took advantage of the discount offer to "Upgrade" to the new Access hub. The expectation was that there is an upgrade process.

First of all the Battery installation picture is incorrect as someone has already pointed out. Should have been a warning of things to come.

The instructions do not address upgrading from the AcuRite Smart-Hub to the AcuRite Access hub. They seem to assume a new installation.

At first I  just added the Access hub in my AcuRite account. That seemed to work for the Temp / Humid sensors but not my 5-in-1 weather station.   Also, it did not see the names of the  Temp / Humid sensors, just the IDs. Not very good.

The instructions do not reference the "replace" feature which will save the names (lets the user change the hub ID).  That is okay but the user is forced to  delete the original hub.  This is VERY NOT GOOD.  This resulted in the loss of all  of my historic data. VERY disappointing to say the least.  The first rule of a product upgrade is to preserve the users data. If this is not possible, then provide a method to archive the data before starting the upgrade.  This may have been possible if the original  hub was not deleted.  The upgrade process should have informed the user.

Finally, I was able to get the Access hub connected to WU . The down side is that the required a new WU Id. So, again no historic data.  The only good news is that the old WU id is still intact so some data is available.

Overall the upgrade to the AcuRite / Access is very disappointing.

Let's hope it is a reliable product & communicates to the MyAcuRite site and Weather Underground.

Hello Jack,

Thank you for letting us know about the incorrect picture. We are aware of it, and we are working on getting the online version corrected. You are able to use the replace feature which will replace the current smartHUB on your account. We apologize for your frustration, and will pass your feedback along for future product launches. We appreciate it.

There are only 30 days of data on myAcurite.  It does not keep extended historical data.  If you want to keep a long-term copy of your historical data, you need to request a download of data from the myAcurite site.  That's the way it has always been.

Your wunderground data is still intact.   I don't know where you get the idea you need a new wunderground ID.  Wunderground will have an extended historical copy of your weather data.

What about the all time highs and lows on MyAcurite? Are those retained?

Hello SharkFanMI,

That data would not be retained. It would be the information in the CSV file that is retained. It will not carry over any records that were recorded. It would be your readings for the past 30 days in the 5 minute intervals that would be downloaded.

That's a good point—maybe there isn't a problem? Although the OP did say he lost _all_ his data.

I don't see this as a big deal, as downloading a 30 day .csv is no hardship, but I understand the potential for dissatisfaction.

My advice to AcuRite:

a) recommend a download of cloud data before replacement. Include in setup document, with more clear Replace instructions,
b) improve the cloud app so that download is not needed.

There is so much goodness in Access! No little wrinkles should be left unaddressed.

Jack, you get 31 days of detailed data from the myacurite site.  From my knowledge 31 days has been the cut off on the custom reporting.  I just checked my 5-in-1 that runs off a SmartHUB and there has been no change on those limitations.  Now there are high point numbers retained, for example I can see the all time summer high of 108 last year, but when you are talking daily detail, you definitely are limited to 31 days.  What I'm not clear at this point (because I haven't done it), is whether migration to the Access will lose those all time record numbers.  Is the all time numbers the one's you lost?

The High and Low points has been what I have been complaining about.... Basic issue is that Acurite did not preserve this data thus telling me that they do not care... They apparently do not keep any backups... Making me rethink my future with them... I was going to get the Elite system when it came out, but now with all of this, I may just go to another system.... Peet Brothers is a top notch system... I may go back to them.

myAcurite only stores 31 days of data.  It's not intended for long-term weather data storage.

If you really want long-term storage, send your data to wunderground.  Or you can download the CSV file on a monthly basis and use the data however you want.

Hello All,
We are very sorry for any inconvenience experienced. When using the "Replace" button on My AcuRite, the historical data does NOT transfer to the new AcuRite Access. We would recommend downloading the last 31 day CSV file if you keep your historical data.  If you have already replaced the HUB with Access, you can re-add the smartHUB to download the 31 days historical data.  When you re-add the same Device ID and add the sensors all the information you had access to previously will be there.  The highs and lows will not transfer but you can retrieve this information. Please let us know if you have any questions. Thank you.

Had the same issue with losing all the historical data.  Disappointed that AcuRite didn't set up a migration feature to migrate the old data to the new Access Hub.   Not very professional.  Same goes for the battery install instructions, it would have been easy to mark the device with the directions of the batteries.

Is there a documented process for "migrating" from the Smart hub to the access hub?  I'd like a recommended procedure from Acurite.

Hello All,

We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.  To retrieve your data we would recommend you re-add your smartHUB back to My AcuRite. You will add back the sensors to your smartHUB that were on there previously. Once this is done you can download up to 30 days of data to a CSV file on your computer. We sincerely apologize for this. Please reach out to us should you have any additional questions.

Hello All,

For those of you using the new AcuRite Access I have included some instructions based off everyone's feedback. We apologize that these were not included. The picture of the way you insert the batteries in the AcuRite Access is incorrect, and we are working on getting this corrected.   Before you replace the smartHUB with the AcuRite Access we do recommend downloading the last 30 days of your data as this will not transfer over. If you are transmitting to Weather Underground with your smartHUB, you will need to remove your Weather Underground sharing and add it back with the connection being the AcuRite Access. (It would be the name that you picked when you named the device) You will then add the sensor you want to transmit to Weather Underground. Please type out your station Id and password. Do not copy and paste the information. If the station ID and password do not work, please try the station ID and passkey. Please let us know if there is anything further we can assist you with.

I have connected the Access twice and it stops transmitting after only a few minutes. I removed the hub and installed the Access as a new device. I shared it with the same password as I used with the Hub and then with the WU password; no connectivity. I revert back to the hub which works flawlessly. I am very experienced with internet and network connectivity. I cannot believe the rush to market that the battery replace photo was allowed to be incorrect. I would like to return the device since it obviously does not even transmit data to acurite let alone WU.

Hello Lee,

We are very sorry for any inconvenience you have experienced. We are happy to assist you with your product rather then have you return the unit. The choice is certainly yours.  We can see you are currently up and running on My AcuRite with the Access.  Are you still experiencing disconnections? Thank you.

Looks like I wasted 40 bucks. I'm not going to install the Access that I bought and lose my historic highs and lows.
