Update 3.10.2017: Outage, My AcuRite Gaps, and Weather Underground

As most of you are aware; since the Amazon Web Services (AWS) outage last week, some users have been experiencing gaps in temperature and humidity on both My AcuRite and Weather Underground. We have been working closely with Weather Underground’s development team to correct the issue. Yesterday a fix was implemented which appears to be correcting the gaps caused by the issue of how Weather Underground was closing the connection after we uploaded data. We are continuing to monitor accounts to ensure no further issues occur.

Hello Michael,

This may have been due to the Weather Underground outage over the weekend. This has since been corrected. Please let us know if you continue to experience any more gaps.

Gap free since noon yesterday (Thursday). Station was showing up on WU for 24 hours but is back off again. My Acurite neighbors that were off WU for days are now back on. Looks like it is almost fixed. WU has a little more work to do.

I re-enabled my WU sharing yesterday afternoon. So far, I'm not seeing any gaps.

My last gap ended at 12:07 p.m. CST, on 03/09. Thanks to all people involved in fixing this issue!

I thought everything was fixed, but I lost connection last night 03/09/2017 at 11:38 PM. If i reboot the SmartHub it will send a few minutes and stop. Also it keeps showing that I updated -3 (negative 3) seconds ago?

Thanks for your offer to replace my unit if still under warranty.  Unfortunately my unit is about 2+ years old.  The unit worked perfectly until the new interface replaced the earlier interface in late 2015.  Your response it very disappointing.  It would seem that the problem is on related to the new software you deployed  Sorry.

30+ hrs now without temp and humidity gaps.... So far This is a great improvement.

However some like Harold still seem to be having gaps.. as of 9 hrs ago!

Since the fix, when people were saying everything is good, I was still having gaps when others were not. I started sharing to WU again on the afternoon of 3/9 when people started saying they were not having problems anymore. I then unplugged my hub for about a half hour and plugged it back in on the morning of 3/10 and since, I have had no gaps. Here are screenshots of the progression.

My 5-in-1 has been gap-free since March 9 about at 12:45 PM CST.  I've done nothing else except wait this issue error out - No re-config, no disabling/re-enabling, etc.

Thank you for the screen shots. We know Weather Underground had an outage over the weekend. This has since been corrected. Thanks for the reply. I thought that the charts were very strange including the time being off by several hours. Within an hour of posting the screen shots everything had gone back to normal and have worked fine since then. Would be interesting to know what happened at WU to cause this!

We were able to locate the issue with this. It was the daylight savings time. It has now been corrected. If you chart your data for the 12th the blip will no longer be there. Let us know if there is anything further we can assist you with. Thank you.

FWIW this appears to really be a WU problem OVERALL. I just visited a status page for a a site that used DAVIS.

SIMILAR  ISSUE
They messed up Daylight savings big time :(

Thank you for the information, and I agree that it appears to be a WU problem overall.

I do find it strange that my station was working fine (i.e., I had refreshed it several times this morning without any problems). I didn't experience this issue until I restarted my browser about 20 minutes ago.

Have gone about 5 hours now with no gaps in WU graphs.  All looks good at the moment!  Hope it stays this way...thanks AcuRite and Weather Underground.

Can you be more specific with what you are showing us? Weather Underground did have an outage this weekend, but it should now be corrected. Are you still experiencing issues?

Keep an eye on it and see whether it stops "gapping."  Mine seems to be good now.

Thank you for providing us with this information. Weather Underground did have an outage over the weekend. This could be a possibility for gaps, however in reviewing your account I see there are gaps on the 13th as well. I have passed this information along to be reviewed. Thank you.
