The acurite meat thermometer isn't accurate.

this one I try calibrate it to 32 degrees and when in boiling water it does 206 and when calibrating boiling water to 212, it does 36 in ice cold water.
Is it a dud or are these no good?

The boiling point of water decreases with altitude.  If I remember correctly, water that boils at 206F would be at an altitude of about 3000' above sea-level.

You'll only get boiling at 212F at sea-level.
