smartHUB no lights after presing Activation button

Upon connecting to the router and power, the lights did not flash. So I left it to stay for 30 minutes. After that, I pressed thhe activation button. Suddenly the blue lights turned off. I am not sure why. There are still lights to where the connection is (Yellow green and orange). Am I doing something wrong? When trying to add it in my acurite account it says that it must be registered and sending data. Any help?

If you hold in the activation button too long, it toggles the lights off.  It's an undocumented "feature" for those who can't stand the lights  (they were much more annoying on the older bridges).

If you want to reverse the process, hold the button in again for about the same time, and they should come back on.

If you toggle the lights this way, you'll need to set up your wunderground information again.  You can do this by removing your wunderground account info from myAcurite, then re-enter it.  This will cause myAcurite to reload your wunderground information on the SmartHUB.

Good to know. Same thing happened to me when I activated my Hub.

I had been reading posts on this forum about hubs being bricked and no lights. Imagine my horror when I hit the activate button and all the blue lights went away. I still had the green and yellow network  lights so I knew something was still working.  I finally decided to push the activate button again and was relieved when the blue lights lit back up.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving !

Thanks! That helped. But now, Im still stuck in trying to add the device. I leave it for 30 minutes, then the network light goes on /off in intervals of 1 to 2 minutes. The sensor light does stay steady the whole time. I noticed also, that upon power, the network lights did not show that it was updating the firmware. Any tips? I checked that DHCP is enabled.

Do you have any sensors turned on?  The SmartHUB needs to be picking up a sensor before it starts sending data to myAcurite.  The sensor light should blink off once in a while if it is picking up a sensor transmission.

Hi, It's all good now. It seems that the smartHUB has a smaller range compared o the display. Moved it nearer the sensor. worked well! Thanks

During inital setup, smart hub came on with blue lights. Didn't appear to do any updates. Network status solid blue so pushed activate button and the unit went dark. So reading other posts I unplugged for a couple of minutes and reconnected - no blue lights. Then read above posts and tried holding activate button again - still no blue lights. I do have solid Green and occassional flashing yellow lights at ethernet port.

Now What do I Do?

Hello Craig,

What is the model number of your smartHUB? You want to hold the activate/register button for 10 seconds to toggle the lights on and off.  The lights should function as follows: The left blue light is a network status light. It should flash for 1 second each time a reading is sent otherwise it will be steady. The right hand light should be solid steady. If the lights are working correctly, please try the following steps:

1. Go to settings and click devices.

2. Enter your device ID and zip code.

3. Enter your address information where the smartHUB is located.

4. Select if you want the station pressure which is a raw pressure you can calibrate, or the adjusted pressure which is a calibrated pressure based off your altitude.

5. Click Save.

6. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and add your sensors.

**Note it make take a little bit of time before your sensor information comes up.

If this doesn't correct the problem, please power down your router, and smartHUB. Unplug the Ethernet cable from the router as well. Keep them unplugged for about 2 minutes. After the 2 minutes power up the router, and wait for it to get online. Once online go ahead and plug the Ethernet cable in, and power up the smartHUB. Try the steps above. If this doesn't correct the problem, please let us know. Thank you.
