SmartHub fail after only 3 months

I am adding yet another voice to the chorus of people having trouble with their SmartHubs. I purchased my Acurite 01057RM through Amazon and received it on Dec. 3, 2016. The SmartHub bridge has been working fairly well all this time until this weekend, when it stopped reporting to WU. I powercycled my modem, router and hub, and checked all connections and tried it again. The lights behaved normally. The Sensor Status light was solid, and the Network Status light  flashed in a timely manner. I waited hours to see if WU picked up and they did briefly, but  it quickly went offline again. This time, I uninstalled the hub completely from the dashboard, powercycled the router, and attempted to reinstall the hub, but instead of being able to complete the process I got the message  "Device must be connected and reporting data to claim it.  Please make sure the device is connected to your router and the status lights are blinking." Again, the Sensor Status light was a solid blue, and the Network Status light was solid blue but blinking normally for a second, but I couldn't get past this error message. I tried everything all over again from the beginning, and now the yellow and green lights where the ethernet plugs in are on and acting normally, but the Network and Sensor Status lights won't come on. I'm getting pretty frustrated and feeling discouraged after reading all the other similar complaints on this forum, and don't wish to spend an hour on a tech support call that goes nowhere. Can anyone give me some helpful advice other than throwing it in the trash and writing it off as a waste of money? The unit's device ID is 24CC86E****** (removed by admin due to privacy concerns) if that is helpful to anyone at Customer Support.

Hello David,

Can you provide us with the model number of your smartHUB? If you are getting no blue lights it is possible you toggled them off by pressing the register/activate button for about 10 seconds. If you press the button again for 10 seconds the blue lights should come on. The lights should function as follows: The left blue light is a network status light. It should flash for 1 second each time a reading is sent otherwise it will be steady. The right hand light should be solid steady.  We would recommend powering down your smartHUB and router for about 2 minutes, as well as removing the Ethernet cable from the router that connects the smartHUB. After the 2 minutes power up the router, and wait for it to come back online. Once it is back online plug in the Ethernet cable and power up the smartHUB. Give it a couple of minutes to try to register the device.

Thank you for the prompt reply. This is a model 090150M. I see that I did unknowingly toggle the blue lights off. I pressed the button for 10 seconds and they are back on, with the Network Status light flashing off and on for one second about every 18 seconds, and the Sensor Status light solid blue. I powered everything down and and disconnected the power cord and ethernet completely, waited, powered up the router and hub, waited for everything to come back online (as I have done many times before), and the blue lights went back to functioning normally as described before (no flashing). After waiting a few minutes, I pressed the Activate button for 4 seconds, waited about 10 minutes longer, and then went to the dashboard to complete installation. Once again, after providing Device name, Device ID, Country and Postal Code and clicking the green Next button, I get the "Device must be connected and reporting data to claim it. Please make sure the device is connected to your router and the status lights are blinking" message, and can't proceed from there.  What next?

I am experiencing a recent issue. My New HUB that I bought last week worked fine, then about 20 hours ago, stopped working. I have concluded all the troubleshooting steps to include backing it out and reinstalling it on my account. Still, it does not light up at all. What do I need to do? After reading recent and past posts, I was able to get the indicator lights to work, but still, my account is not sharing on WU?

Hello Thomas,

We can see that you are transmitting on My AcuRite and Weather Underground. If you are not getting any blue lights, they can be toggled on and off by pressing the register/activate button for 10 seconds.  Please let us know if there is anything further we can assist you with.
