smart HUB Service going away

I have always said that AcuRite had great customer service but stopping support of the smart HUB Service and wanting us to buy a new device is anything but great service, NOT HAPPY and will stop recomending AcuRite if I can not get this resolved in a fair manner which is not me paying again for somthing I already paid for.

They should at least opensource the code to the community instead of advising us to trash and buy a new unit..

They should open source the code that runs in the SmartHub itself. That way you can redirect the output to your own server. One could possibly reverse engineer it and make a proxy that forwards the web API calls somewhere else. That assumes it isn't using encryption. if it doesn't. Probably the new version does. This way they can maintain vendor lock in.
