Similar Problem.  Currently raining, Display shows .28", Hub shows .24".  Rain gauge is 15' from the Hub thru window.  The hub continuously  displays weak signal with occasional alerts for no report.  Display unit at other end of home 35' away show 4 bars full signal at all times.  Have tried A,B,C channels.  No difference.  The Acu-Rite Hub is Deaf!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Dave,  I also agree with your comment that I get occasional alerts for no reports with loss of signal from 5 in 1 from time to time yet signal strength is very good on display and online!  Why are these Smart hub's so difficult??

Hello Dave,

We can see that your smartHUB has missed transmissions periodically through the day yesterday. This can cause the rain totals to clear. Heavy rain or wet foliage may create interference impacting the wireless signal between an outdoor sensor and indoor companion product (display, bridge, etc.). To ensure a strong wireless connection, mount the sensor higher up or relocate it to another area.

  • Increase the mounting height. A wireless signal traveling close to the ground and through objects like windows, walls, bushes, grass, drywall, etc., reduces the potential wireless range. Rain may cause additional interference on the wireless signal.
  • Relocate the product(s) – When moving a wireless product, even an inch can make a difference in signal strength. For products with both a sensor (transmitter) and digital display or bridge (receiver), relocating both parts may help improve the wireless range.

Hello Steve,
We see your smartHUB is currently offline.  We see that yesterday between the time 2:35-7:25 your smartHUB was not receiving a signal.  Can you tell us approximately what time it was raining yesterday?

Why is my smartHUB offline?  I guess i need to unplug, wait and restart, I am doing this more often lately!  Why does this occur?  My modem is not going offline and I have not made any movement of the smartHUB.  Please help me determine why the smartHUB goes offline it is only a few months old, the signal strength and the 5in1 has fresh batteries.  Thank you for any support.  The rain occurred yesterday morning at 6 to 7 AM.

Hello Steve,

What is the model number of your smartHUB? We show you are back online, and transmitting with 2 bars. It is hard for us to determine as to why this is happening. We would need to know what the lights are doing on the smartHUB while you are offline. It could be due to interference between the smartHUB and the sensor which has caused the sensor to go offline. It could be your smartHUB is down. This could be due to internet or interference as well. Once we knew what the lights were doing it would help us provide troubleshooting specific to your issue. Is the smartHUB plugged directly into the router, or are you using a port or switch? What type of internet connection do you have? There are missed transmissions on the 19th. If you go to charts & details for the 19th follow the lines and it will provide you with times. You are looking for 5 minute updates. Anything less or more than that are missed transmissions.  We would recommend keeping an eye on the rain and letting us know if you are missing anymore rainfalls.

Hello jennifer,
in response to your above request,
  • smartHUB model #09150M
  • The two blue LCD's are on constant, and have been for the last hour (in the last hour 6-7:30 PM 26Jul17 CDT)  during this time we had 0.46 inches of rain according to the display, but the MyAcuRite webpage and the PWS on Weather Underground do not indicate any rain!  ALL OTHER WEATHER DATA IS ACCURATE and matches from display to MyAcuRite webpage to PWS on Weather Underground.
  • Signal strength indicates as weak from MyAcuRite webpage (last updates within last 5 minutes and STATUS - GOOD) and 2 bars from display
  • ALL BATTERIES were replace 2 weeks ago with FRESH Energizer Ultimate Lithium Batteries
  • The modem plugs into the wireless router and the smartHUB plugs into the router along with a desktop and printer.  Everything works fine (wireless and plug ins) but rain does not record!
  • Over the last week the smartHUB has not dropped offline but rainfall is not recording
Why does the rain data not record through the smartHUB?
THANK you
Steve

Hello Steve,

Do you know what the lights were doing when you were offline? Please make sure that the smartHUB is directly plugged into the router and at least 3 feet away from any electronics such as the computer and printer. As this can cause interference which may result in missed data packets. We see that the last time it registered rain was July 22nd. How high is your sensor mounted? What kind of siding is on the building that the smartHUB is in? Do you have a display that is registering rain? Thank you.

Thank you for the response, here are the answers to your questions -
  • The last issue with not recording rainfall on MyAcuRite account and the PWS on Weather Underground was yesterday 26 July as indicated in this thread, at that time i checked the lights on the smartHUB and BOTH were lit solid.
  • The smartHUB is plugged in DIRECTLY to the router as is the printer and a desktop computer (both worked fine during the last event, this is a wireless unit also and it was transmitting fine to three other computers in the home.
  • The smartHUB is near the printer, router and desktop, I have had no interferference with any componets but can and will move the smartHUB if that is the issue but i really question that item especially given the past history with no issues.
  • The Pro 5-in-1 Color Weather Station with Wind and Rain model 01512M (i AM NOT COMPLETELY SURE OF THE MODEL BUT know IT IS A VERSION OF THE 01512 UNIT) is mounted on a steel pipe 5 foot above a 10 foot to the peak wood garden shed which is 50 foot distance from the smartHUB, the shed and the elevation of the floor of the house where the smartHUB is located are the same elevation,
  • the House which the smartHUB is in is a wood structure with vinyl siding.
  • As stated previously, the color display indicates the rain amount accurately but no rain amount is indicated in MyAcuRite online account or my PWS from Weather Underground.
I look forward to your response.

Hello Steve,

So we can look further into this can you provide us with the timeframe these rainfalls occurred, and if you still are able to review it what the amount is that registered on the display.  If you are not able to get the amount that is fine. Thank you.

Addendum to most recent post,  the green lit is on solid and the amber lit is a fast flash so internet traffic is flowing during the issue and constantly with every check!
Thank you.

In the last 75 minutes (10:30-11:45 CST on 14Aug17) we had a very light rain that recorded 0.13" on my display.  On the online data (dashboard and charts) and the PWS with Weather Underground 0.00" of rain is shown yet all the other data has been recorded and current weather conditions (temp, Humidity, Wind, etc) match between my display and what is online and on WU.  THe Smarthub has both blue lights on solid and the green is solid and yellow flashing indicating data is transmitting.  So again, please tell me what needs to be done to record rain through the SmartHub or whatever the issue maybe.
Thank you,

Thank you for sending a replacement SmartHUB, i have set it up and it is communicating to my AcuRite web account and to Weather Underground.
The only question/comment i have is when changing SmartHUB's is there any way to transfer the data from the old hub to the new one?  I lost all data history with the replacement hub.

I will advise after the next rain event on any recording issues.
Regards,

Hello Steve,

There is no way to transfer the data from one to the other. You can download the CSV file for the last 31 days. That is how far back you can get the information. To do this you would go to your charts & details on My AcuRite.  Right next to where you select the time frame of the chart you want to look at you will see a cloud with a down arrow. You click on that, and select the range you want to download. A link will be sent to your email where you can view this data and save it to the computer. If you were to do the download today you can go back to July 24th.
