I can not set the current time on my clock (Model 13040CA ). When I press and hold the set button nothing happens. I can not get into set mode. This happened when I plugged my tablet in the USB port. As soon as I plugged it in everything on the clock reset. I have charged my tablet before without a problem. There is no reset button on the unit. Also, prior postings in this forum related to Model 13040 seem to mention a similar problem but no satisfactory solution is ever presented.

Hello Warren,

Please verify you are using the battery recommendations listed below. If you are, remove the batteries and the adapter for a full two minutes to let the display power down completely then reapply power.  If this issue continues, the clock will need to be replaced. When and where was this purchased?  Thank you.

Batteries:

•Verify you are using fresh alkaline batteries or lithium batteries (when temperature is below -4°F/-20°C) in sensor.

•Quality brand batteries are recommended, including Duracell, Rayovac, Energizer, or Kirkland.

•Verify batteries are fresh. The battery expiration date should be at least 6 years out. Batteries can lose 3% power or more every year in storage.

•Heavy duty, extra strength or generic / store brand batteries are not recommended for use with AcuRite products because they may cause performance irregularities due to the way these types of batteries disperse power. Each battery should not exceed 1.6 volts.

•Rechargeable batteries are not recommended for use with AcuRite products because they may cause performance irregularities due to the voltage instability of these types of batteries.

•Mixing different battery types (brands, old/new, etc.) is not recommended.

I've verified that I'm using recommended batteries, in this case Duracell. I've went through the above procedure several times but still there is no response when I press and hold the set button. I cannot set anything on this clock.
I purchased it this past fall at my local Home Hardware store. It was in their flyer at the time. I've registered this product with you folks so you should already have that information.
