Reset button vs Battery Removal

I am on Day 17 of the 33 Day learning period on my Model 01605 in hopes of the pressure becoming more of a match to weather stations in my area and even my home barometer. Currently, it is reading a consistent -17 to -18 too low according to the other sources.
This is my second time around trying for a better pressure reading. On my initial startup, it showed a similar pressure discrepancy. After about 22 days, I did the reset by removing a battery, waiting a few minutes, and replacing. The barometer reading from other sources showed 29.96 when I did the re-set, which I thought would be close enough to the 29.92 to yield some success. Would it have been better to have used the re-set button rather than just the battery removal?
All other readings on the unit seem to be working well i.e.temperature, trends, wind, etc. Should I just settle for the low barometer reading and just do the math each time since everything else seems to be pretty good. I don't want to worsen the situation.
