Replacement 5-in-1 sensor station doesn't transmit data

Have had a 5 in 1 station for a while, but lost the wind cups in a major ice storm, so ordered new 5 in 1 sensor directly from Accurite, received a week or two ago. Took old station off pole, and put new station on, with new batteries, but receiver could not find it

Put the sensor and receiver right next to each other, receiver found station and displayed what looked like good data. Remounted station on pole, but data did not update, was frozen in old data.

Reset, and then receiver could find the sender, but then displayed dashes for data. Did hard reset, and still displaying dashes. Tried changing stations, receiver seems to find sensor, display it as "B" regardless of channel, but still displays dashes. Did hard restart again with units right next to each other, and again, only dashes. I have a lighting sensor, which seems to be working fine with that receiver, but I removed that from the list of sensors, and still no improvement.

Haven't registered item yet, but, as I said, just bought it directly from Accu Rite very recently. Kind of frustrating for a "fun" hobby.  I did have some difficulty getting it to lock into the first sensor (the one now broken) when I got it, but worked fine once I changed channel and it locked in. No luck with this one.

Hello Tom,
Does the old sensor have batteries installed? What brand of batteries are you using? Are you only monitoring the station on the local display or do you online monitor? I understand you have done troubleshooting, we just need to ensure all troubleshooting steps have been exhausted. Please verify you are using the battery recommendations and try the troubleshooting steps listed below.  Please let us know if you continue to lose signal. Thank you.

Batteries:

•Verify you are using fresh alkaline batteries or lithium batteries (when temperature is below -4°F/-20°C) in sensor.

•Quality brand batteries are recommended, including Duracell, Rayovac, Energizer, or Kirkland.

•Verify batteries are fresh. The battery expiration date should be at least 6 years out. Batteries can lose 3% power or more every year in storage.

•Heavy duty, extra strength or generic / store brand batteries are not recommended for use with AcuRite products because they may cause performance irregularities due to the way these types of batteries disperse power. Each battery should not exceed 1.6 volts.

•Rechargeable batteries are not recommended for use with AcuRite products because they may cause performance irregularities due to the voltage instability of these types of batteries.

•Mixing different battery types (brands, old/new, etc.) is not recommended.

Hard reset:

- Bring both units side by side and remove all batteries, unplug display if it has an ac adapter

- Change the ABC Switch to a different setting and ensure that both are on the same setting. example - If on A, move both to C

- Place batteries into the outdoor sensor first

- Place batteries into display

- Allow units to sit side by side until they connect.

Batteries are new, and did a hard reset.

Now I tried a factory reset with units side by side, and they seemed to link on channel C. Left on overnight, and they seemed to share data in morning. Put sensor outside, where old sensor was, about 100' away and receiver near window in view on sensor. Showing no signal strength, and data isn't updating.

Will leave it on and check tonight.

Hi, tried that it didn't work - set up receiver about 20' away from sensor, through window, direct line of sight. Wouldn't communicate, now won't find lighting sensor any more. Seemed to work fine with old sensor, but no luck with new sensor.

Hello Tom,

We apologize for the delay in response. Does this issue continue? If so, when and where was your display purchased? What is the exact model number?  Thank you.

Hello Tom,

When was your display purchased? If the new sensor is not connecting to your display unit, we would recommend replacing the display. Thank you.

Hi, I reluctantly purchased another duspkay based on your recommendation, problem persists. I found the wind cup on my OLD sensor, attached it, and connected it with my OLD display, and it is working fine. I will need to return for refund the new sensor, which never worked, and the new display which you advised me to buy, but did not fix the problem. Both items were bought directly from accu-rite. I would have liked to get a new sensor, because I don't think the old one is giving correct wind readings, but I can't go through this again. I therefore request a return for refund. How do I start a return for the new sensor and display?
