redesign 5in1 for no snow ledges in front of the PV panels

The standard unit has a ledge in front of the PV panel that collects snow.  Snow accumalates or drifts onto the sensor.  This reduces the PV output enough that the unit reads the wrong temperature due to insufficient fan powered air flow.  The $30 upgrade  to 2 PV panels also has ledges in front of the PV panels.

We had a dusting of snow (less than 1/2 inch of light snow) and the PV panel got blocked resulting in the unit temperatures running about 8F high (actual temp was around zero).  If properly mounted, you cannot reach to dust off.  Things like Rainx need reapplication so that does not provide a long term solution

A solution for future designs is to put the PV sensors on the opposite side where there is no ledge. Then install the 5in1 180 degrees from today's design.  This requires a software change for the new orientation.  Now you have all the benefits and no snow ledge.

Additionally, they have been reading temperatures without solar powered fans for hundreds of years.  Acurite should design out the PV fan requirement.

The problem with your design rite now is that if it snows  more than two inches the wind cups get covered up and nothing works. You should make the wind cups higher away from any ledges for snow to build up on.
