Rainfall not reporting on “MyAcurite”

Hi there,

 I have a 5 in 1 model 01515DIA4 reporting to a SmartHUB

The data gets uploaded to wunderground.com  through “My Acurite”

It is currently raining

Both the 5 in 1 display and my station on underground.com are showing rainfall however “MyAcurite” is not showing any rainfall....

Why is that?

(Reading this forum I saw you pushed an update 6 days ago but that didn't fix my issue)

Hello G,

There was a lag in the rain reading on My AcuRite but that should now be corrected. We are happy to hear everything is working correctly. Enjoy the new My AcuRite. Have a good day!

Hello Satyanaryana,

If your display is not registering rain, please follow the troubleshooting listed below. Please let us know if you continue to have this issue. Thank you and have a great day!

  • Verify the tipping lever is moving freely by rocking the collector unit back and forth. You should be able to hear the tipping lever.
  • Open the rain gauge collector to verify there is no debris, spiderwebs or insects preventing the tipping lever from moving freely.

Clear Debris & Insects from the Rain Gauge on the 5-in-1 Sensor
  • Items Needed: 5-in-1 sensor, Philips screwdriver, damp cloth, car wax, toothbrush (optional), moth ball (optional)
  1. First, open your 5-in-1 sensor by removing the (4) four screws from the bottom. The screws toward the center of the sensor are for Rain Gauge calibration only. Do not adjust these screws.
  2. After your sensor has been opened, remove any insects, cobwebs, or debris. An old toothbrush can help to clean out the hard-to-reach places.
  3. Use a damp cloth to clean off the rain gauge tipping buckets.
    • Note: The damp cloth should only be used to clean the tipping buckets. Do not use to clean any other internal components.
  4. Place a small amount of car wax on a soft cloth and wipe down the tipping buckets to ensure that rain flows through smoothly.
  5. To further defend against insects crawling into your sensor, you may place a moth ball in the nook, near the tipping buckets (shown in video). Adhere the moth ball to the sensor with a piece of tape.
    • Note: Insect repellant may be used for additional protection, but should not be sprayed on the internal components or into the sensor.
  6. Reassemble the 5-in-1 sensor by replacing the (4) four screws on the bottom of the sensor that were removed earlier.
  7. Clear out any false readings that were taken while you were cleaning your sensor by pressing the CLEAR TODAY button on your 5-in-1 compatible display.

My rain gauge also recently stopped reporting rain fall amount.  Disassembled the unit and cleaned out the spider nest that was keeping the rain buckets from tipping.  Works well now.  Wish Acurite would redesign the 5-in-1 so that it would keep insects out of it.

Thank you for the reply Jennifer.  It is nice to know that AcuRite actually monitors these posts.  Hopefully you watched the "video" I posted with my comment.  It contains a stop-gap method of controlling the insects until AcuRite can come up with something better.  The video also contains some other improvement suggestions.

MyAcurite Rainfall reset trigger.
Please, why after it has rained for 30 minutes is the rainfall amount resetting to zero. Do I need to start a new thread for this?
Thanks, Bob

The rainfall amount on myAcurite should only reset to zero at midnight local time.

Make sure you've got a solid power connection to the SmartHUB.  A UPS is best so as not to have a failure during a storm.

If you're sure the power is stable, you'll have to contact customer service.

Thanks George.  Got a solid power connection , agree on the USP..doesn't take much of a UPS for that hub.. I wish they would build a smart hub with a WIFI interface, I hate the limitation of the RJ45 LAN cable!

TO reach my 5-in-1 wireless units I have to use a LAN/WIFI range extender that has an RJ45 jack and place it on the wall closest to the sensors cuz the wifi-router is too far away and on a different side of the house.. not reachable by radio from the sensors.
Are you still driving over-road loads?  Come thru Moore OK anymore.
Cheers, stop by some time....bob&linda

Hello Bob and Linda,

We see you received .06 rain on October 4th.  Did you receive more rain than this?  Are the totals matching from My AcuRite and your display?  Thank you and have a great day!

Rainfall Reporting to MyAcurite and WU Very Erroneous:

The data logging on my CSV file is accurate, the display is accurate.  Both showing no rainfall (we had no rain at all).  But MyAcurite and WU is showing significant rainfall being received.  And this is not the first time.

If it was wind or improper mounting of the 5-in-1, I would expect that the indoor display and the data logged to the CSV would also record or display rainfall, but it isn't.

Have brand new Lithium batteries, a very close mounting location of the sensor to my display (25 feet), and have had no loss of signal to date.

I am thinking of pulling my PWS off of WU until Acurite solves this issue.  I do not want grossly incorrect rainfall data being reported to WU.

Hello Blaine,

The rainfall is something that we are currently looking into on My AcuRite. We are working on a solution that will not be released until after the holidays. We want to test this as much as possible to make sure that this problem is corrected. We do appreciate your patience in this matter, and will update our users on the community forum once we have one. Enjoy your day!

My Charts and 5 in 1 display are reading .39" for the current storm, however the Dashboard reads 0. My info is sent to the weather underground site, and that too ls 0. Is there a software problem?

Just some further info. My Wunderground site shows the same amounts as in the My AcuRite App. In the current conditions tile, it was 0 and now .02" but when you scroll down to the graphs on Wunderground, it shows the actual rainfall of .40". I guess it just mirrors the App.

Having the same problem. My 5in1 desktop display shows 1.46" of rain for today from the storm that is moving through the area but the chart on myACurite reset twice during the day, dropping to 0 both times. After the reset, it climbed up as the rain kept coming, until next reset. Resets happened today 12/15/2016 at 4pm and 6pm PST. Power to the bridge was stable throughout the day.  I am going to try to attach screenshot of the chart to this post.

the gap between 2:51pm and 3:40pm is when we lost Internet connectivity; the power stayed on.

I have the same problem as well. My 5-in-1 displays shows 2.58 inches of rain, but the app shows only 0.79 inches, and wunderground only shows 0.3 inches!

Near as I can tell.. this issue has been going on for at least 4 weeks with no solution as yet... If you can't figure it out....has anyone thought of doing a rollback?
