Mine too. I've determined that my indoor display shows local time totals, the online resources are using a different time zone. I have not looked into it enough to see if time zone is user settable.  In other words, my indoor display starts counting the daily total a few hours later than the online sites.

Hello All,

For Acu-Link users getting incorrect rainfall readings, please bring the display next to the bridge during the next rainfall. When the rain is completed they should match. This will help determine if it's a website problem, or if there was some interference. For the My AcuRite users we are currently looking into the rain problem you are experiencing. Thank you. Have a good day!

Rainfall totals not the same on my weather display and new myAcruite. Also is not reporting any rainfall to Wunderground. All other measurements are updated on Wunderground. Also i noticed since the migrating to myAcruite that the rainfall rate is show 0in on the Wunderground. Should it be showing rainfall rates along with rainfall totals?

Hello David,

What is the model number of your weather station? Is this on the display or on My AcuRite that the readings are not correct?

Hello Asaf am,

What are you reading on your display and smartHUB?  What is the model of your smartHUB?  Can you please provide us with a specific date of the rain events that read differently. Thank you.

My display says it was raining 35 mm few days ago, most of it was around 3 to 4 am and in the acurite app it showed me less that 1 mm at 7 am, my smart hub model is 09150m, this morning it was raining again, the start was ok and than the acurite stopped showing after 2 mm and the display continue to count till 3.5

I am still on Acu-link and Bridge (not migrated yet). It rained last night and this morning my five in one display has 1.50 inches and what is noted online (My Backyard) is 1.44 inches and 1.44 on Wunderground. Bridge is next to five in one display. It has done this two days in a row now.

Hello Michael,

You could be experiencing interference, and that is why the rain is not registering correctly. We recommend taking your display, and placing it next to your bridge the next time it rains. If they do not match, then there is some interference where the data packets get lost when sending the information online. We would recommend pulling the bridge out as far from the router as possible at that point to make sure there is not interference. Thank you. Have a good day!

If you haven't migrated yet, rain data can be lost on the internet due to packet loss. MyAcurite fixes that issue.

Thanks George. I am noticing a consistent..06 inch difference for the last two days. It just seems like the devices start collecting data when a rain events start at a slightly different times. If packets were the sole reason I would have expected the packet loss to be less consistent between the units. I will watch to see if the gap widens. If so packets may be it. Thanks again.

If the packet loss is upstream, the loss can be very consistent.

It all depends on how much rain falls in a 36 second interval. MyAcurite does away with that measure and instead keeps a running total of its own, reporting rain since midnight and in the last 60 minutes.

The bug they are now trying to squash seems to relate to the accumulated total resetting prematurely for some reason. It should only reset at midnight.

My rain totals were very accurate before migration. I constantly compare and monitor my data. When I first migrated rainfall was off by an inch. I we recently got a patch to fix the rain issue. Awaiting a storm to roll through my area later today. Will update with my readings. Hopefully its resolved.

For those of you on the My AcuRite platform there was a firmware update that was sent to your SmartHUB that should correct the inaccurate rain totals. Thank you. Have a good day!

My console and My Acurite smartphone app are in agreement on everything.  However, Weather Underground has show from .16 inch to 1.95 inches during the week that I have had the station installed.  It has not rained any since the station was put up a week ago.  Is this a software bug with PC Connect or Weather Underground.  Interestingly, only the numerical amount on Weather Underground is wrong.  The linear graphs and all other stats match exactly.  I'm also a bit disappointed that updates to WU occur about every 15 or more minutes.  Are there plans to change this??  Thanks

PC Connect should be sending data in rapid-fire fashion every 18 or 36 seconds.

WU aggregates the rapid-fire data to 5-minute intervals for long-term storage.

I'm using a travel sized laptop with a wireless connection to my router.  The laptop only has USB ports.  If I go with a USB to Ethernet adapter do you think that might speed up the process?  I do have an older Windows 7 with an Ethernet port.  Thanks.

I don't think that would have any effect unless your wireless connection isn't stable for some reason.  The amount of data flowing isn't much.

Inconsistent measurements still a problem. Non transmitted observations are leading to rainfall underestimates in myAcurite site. The display purchased with the sensor read 1.12" last night. The Acurite csv data downloaded from the website shows 0.92" + 0.19" = 1.11" (ignore the rainfall reset, that's a separate issue). The weather underground data correctly shows 0.93" + 0.19" = 1.12" (third figure). If I display the data on Acurite over the past 2 days it shows 0.90" + 0.19" = 1.09".

Hello Chris,

The CSV file download is that coming from My AcuRite or do you have a PC Connect display you are using?  We are aware of the problem with the rain on My AcuRite and are looking for a resolution at this time. We will update our customers on the forum and via the link below. Thank you. Have a good day!

Is there any update on the software fix for rainfall? I have a 01536CDI display with a 5 in 1 station. The display seems to have an accurate accounting of the rain compared to other stations in the area, but MyAcurite app and Weather Underground both show higher, but not equal amounts of rainfall. I am using PC connect to send to both MyAcurite and Weather Underground.

Hello Vanessa,

What are the readings you are getting on the display and what are you getting on My AcuRite? Are you using a Windows or Mac computer? What operating system do you have? How much RAM is on the computer?

I am using a MAC with the latest OS, 16GB RAM.
Last I checked last night, the display was at 1.61, MyAcurite was at 1.79 and Wunderground was at 1.81 inches.
Sometimes the discrepancy is much larger.

I have the same problem, Acurite 01036M
Indoor display captured 2.03mm of rain in a brief storm.
Wunderground and MyAcurite show correctly the 2.03mm at the time of the storm, but then adds rainfall about an hour later for a total of 18.3mm when no further rain fell! this extra measurement is not shown on the indoor display so I believe the error  is between PC connect and Wunderground/MyAccurite

Hello Ryan,

Where is the sensor mounted? How often is this occurring? Make sure the sensor is mounted secure enough where the wind is not blowing it. If the wind blows the sensor enough to move the tipping levers it could register rain. Another thing to consider is if a bird or animal lands on it, and they move it enough to have those tipping levers move it could register rain.  Is the rain registering on the indoor display as well?

It rained all of last night but my 5 in 1 weather station isn't reporting any rain. My indoor display just read 0.00 for the daily total but it had rained hard from 8pm till 10. I am very confused.

Hello Justice,

Please open your sensor to clear any debris or insects out.  To do so, the directions are listed below. Thank you.

•Verify the tipping lever is moving freely by rocking the collector unit back and forth. You should be able to hear the tipping lever.
•Open the rain gauge collector to verify there is no debris, spider webs or insects preventing the tipping lever from moving freely.

Clear Debris & Insects from the Rain Gauge on the 5-in-1 Sensor

•Watch the video: http://www.acurite.com/5in1#cleaning
•Items Needed: 5-in-1 sensor, Philips screwdriver, damp cloth, car wax, toothbrush (optional), moth ball (optional)
1.First, open your 5-in-1 sensor by removing the (4) four screws from the bottom. The screws toward the center of the sensor are for Rain Gauge calibration only. Do not adjust these screws.
2.After your sensor has been opened, remove any insects, cobwebs, or debris. An old toothbrush can help to clean out the hard-to-reach places.
3.Use a damp cloth to clean off the rain gauge tipping buckets. •Note: The damp cloth should only be used to clean the tipping buckets. Do not use to clean any other internal components.

4.Place a small amount of car wax on a soft cloth and wipe down the tipping buckets to ensure that rain flows through smoothly.
5.To further defend against insects crawling into your sensor, you may place a moth ball in the nook, near the tipping buckets (shown in video). Adhere the moth ball to the sensor with a piece of tape. •Note: Insect repellant may be used for additional protection, but should not be sprayed on the internal components or into the sensor.

6.Reassemble the 5-in-1 sensor by replacing the (4) four screws on the bottom of the sensor that were removed earlier.
7.Clear out any false readings that were taken while you were cleaning your sensor by pressing the CLEAR TODAY button on your 5-in-1 compatible display.

I have an Acurite 02064 MAI and use the My AcuRite app on my phone to check. Temp seems alright, but rainfall is not. Yesterday my display said 1.94" of rain had fallen, but My AcuRite had, and still has, only 1.29". The station is mounted on a 3/4" pipe above a pergola with no trees or anything else above it. Please advise.

Hello Tom,

We can see rain registered on My AcuRite on 2-21-18. What does the display show for the total rain for that specific day? Did you hook up your smartHUB and display at the same time or did you hook them up at separate times? If for any reason your smartHUB was not transmitting or missed a reading from the sensor it will not show the rainfall reading. That data is missed, and there is no way to get it back. This could be why you are seeing the different totals in the display and online. I was able to go to yearly charts on My AcuRite.  It shows your high rain and how many days since it last rained there. Please let us know if you are able to see this information. Thank you.

Sorry, I was not home on 2/21 to see the displayed amount. Today, 2/26, shows 0.63". Total is 10.80". I do not have a smartHUB (one is on the way). My display is connected through my computer, and yes, they were connected the same day. Online says 0.47" for today. I cannot get Total Rainfall. I receive the following:

Same issue here! Just received my new My Acurite and it is registering less than what shows on both my displays! The displays match! The My Acurite is always low! I could have sworn I saw this one other time with the smarthub (replaced now with (the my Acurite) and we did find out it was the display that had the issue. Not likely in this case!

My indoor display hardly ever reads rainfall total.. But it shows up on the Weather Underground app as pretty well close to what the actual rain was.. It can rain 2"s and it'll show that on WU.. But indoor display is usually. .03" or some really low number.. Just started doing this within past couple mths..

Hello Marty,
Please open your sensor to clear any debris or insects out.  To do so, the directions are listed below. After this has been done, please hard reset the display and sensor. Those directions are below the sensor directions. Thank you.

•Verify the tipping lever is moving freely by rocking the collector unit back and forth. You should be able to hear the tipping lever.
•Open the rain gauge collector to verify there is no debris, spider webs or insects preventing the tipping lever from moving freely.

Batteries:

•Verify you are using fresh alkaline batteries or lithium batteries (when temperature is below -4°F/-20°C) in sensor.

•Quality brand batteries are recommended, including Duracell, Rayovac, Energizer, or Kirkland.

•Verify batteries are fresh. The battery expiration date should be at least 6 years out. Batteries can lose 3% power or more every year in storage.

•Heavy duty, extra strength or generic / store brand batteries are not recommended for use with AcuRite products because they may cause performance irregularities due to the way these types of batteries disperse power. Each battery should not exceed 1.6 volts.

•Rechargeable batteries are not recommended for use with AcuRite products because they may cause performance irregularities due to the voltage instability of these types of batteries.

•Mixing different battery types (brands, old/new, etc.) is not recommended.

Hard reset:
- Bring both units side by side and remove all batteries, unplug display if it has an ac adapter
- Change the ABC Switch to a different setting and ensure that both are on the same setting. example - If on A, move both to C
- Place batteries into the outdoor sensor first
- Place batteries into display
- Allow units to sit side by side until they connect.
