It seems interesting the rain gauge shows rain when strong winds exist, over 30 mph.  Anyone had this issue or have suggestions?  It is a model 01536 5 in 1 unit

Usually that's because the wind is making the mount sway, rocking the rain tipping buckets back and forth.

You need to make your 5n1 mount more stable so that it doesn't sway in the wind.

I'm wondering if I'm having the same problem. My 5n1 is attached to the top of a 6' metal conduit which doesn't have much play, but there is a bit. Over the last few days we have had nothing but clear skies, but wind gusts up to ~30. The 5n1 is reporting .01-.03 per day. Minor, but incorrect. If I want to shorten the pole to reinforce, what is the best way to avoid false readings while the 5n1 is moved? Do I insert the shipping lock that came with the device? Remove the batteries? Clear data after the changes (I report up to WU so not sure if a clear data would remove what is reported there?)?

Hello Darren,

We would recommend removing the batteries from the sensor. The sensor will not transmit to Weather Underground or My AcuRite or the display so there should be no false readings while it's being moved. Thank you.
