Planned obselesence

I purchased two acurite thermometers to measure inside and outside temp and humidity several years ago and granted I am sure they were not more than $10 each so really no big deal that they do not work anymore and I know there has to be some planned obselesence to keep a company going but they both quit on the same day at the same time. What are they programed for a specific time to stop working?

Hello Dan,

What is the model number of your thermometers?   When you say they quit are you referring to the display stopped working on both of them as in there is nothing that comes on the display?  There was no plan to stop the thermometers on the same day.  I personally can tell you that, as that is not the kind of company I would work for. We take pride in our products and service.  Once I have the model number, we will see if there is any additional troubleshooting we can do to get the thermometers working.

There is no model number that I could find on them. Yes you are right the display stopped I thought it was just the battery needing to be changed but that did not work. I was so shocked when I went to look at the other and it was the same. I am sure I have had them for many years though and I did replace them newer models from your company. You really do make a pretty good product for a reasonable price

I am not home right now but will take a picture of the one that does not work and send it to you when I get home

Thank you for your time!

Dan

Hello Dan,

Thank you for providing us with the picture. Have you tried another battery? Please make sure you are using a high quality alkaline battery and inserting the batteries correctly. In the battery compartment you will see a white sticker that reads QC with 4 numbers. Can you please tell me what these 4 numbers are? Thank you.

Hello Dan,

That is quite alright. We are happy to hear that you were able to get it back up and running. You are not the first or the last person this has or will happen to.
