pc connection issues

PC Connect consistently losing connection with the server. I had this issue on a Windows 10 laptop and now with a new iMac desktop. Several times a day, it loses connection and does not send data despite the computer not sleeping and constant, full signal from the weather station to the display. If I close PC Connect and reopen it, it connects back just fine. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it a few times but no changes. Looking for a solution because frankly, it's becoming quite frustrating.

Try changing the USB mode on the display.

I have not done that since the manual and everything I see online or in forums say to check that the USB mode is set to "3", which mine is; my display model is 1036.

Travis I just took a look at the manual and for your 01036 it says to use mode 3 or 4 take a look at page 19   https://www.acurite.com/media/manuals/my-acurite-pc-connect-instructions.pdf at this point what the heck give it a try.

I tried the USB mode "4" and it says sending data but account still says the unit is still offline.

Hello Travis,

You want the USB mode set to 3. On your computer are you using the Windows or the Mac? What version of the software is downloaded onto the computer?  Does it say the display console is detected? Below that you should get the data received with a current date and time stamp. You are not getting this on the Windows or the Mac version correct? Have you ever been able to get it to transmit to My AcuRite? Where was the station purchased, and how long have you had it? Please do a factory reset on the display. Make sure after doing a reset on the display you change the USB mode back to 3. I have enclosed the instructions below:



To do a factory reset: (THIS WILL CLEAR ALL OF YOUR HISTORYAND YOUR SETTINGS)

Please verify that you are using a name brand (Rayovac or Energizer) standardalkaline batteries in the display unit. We do not recommend using anything thatis heavy duty, rechargeable, store brand or Lithium inside of the display.

- Remove all power, AC adapter and batteries, from the display unit.
- Press and hold down the pin hole reset button, located in the batterycompartment, for 20 seconds.
- Plug back into AC power and insert recommended batteries.
- Press and hold down the pin hole reset button for an additional 20seconds.
- Verify that the unit has powered on and once connection has been made,attempt to set time and date.

After this change the USB mode back to 3. Plug the display into the USB and see if you get data received.

Display is set to mode 3, trying to maintain connection to an iMac using the only version of the download from the website, 1.0.46 (1). Display never says that a display is detected but when it is not plugged up, it tells me to hook up a display; also, called customer service the other day about it and Chris acknowledged that that was a typical problem on Macs. It shows a time stamp and sends data to my accurate and weather underground. 

Display was purchased separately as an add-on to a 5-in-1 through Amazon and its barely a couple weeks old. 

I performed a factory reset as described and am waiting to see how it does. 

As I mentioned, I talked to Chris at tech support and a few days ago and we adjusted a setting on the computer which worked for a day or two then it keeps getting disconnected at random times; the computer does not go to sleep at all.

Stopped sending data not 3 hours after I did the reset and reinstallment, time stamp frozen to its last update.

Stopped the application, reinstalled the application, again, and it's working for now. Sensor has full signal and computer has wired high speed internet connection; this is really becoming a nuisance.

At this point, I have to believe it is a software issue on AcuRite's part. I have no had any issue with it staying connected for 2 solid days until this evening, where it has already disconnected twice... I quit the application and reload it and it does just fine until it stops again. I have done everything I can do on my end between settings and connections but I firmly believe its the program. Please, do something!

I too have an 01036 with the same problem. Now it won't connect at all. I'm probably going to send it back to Amazon if someone can't help. I'm sure it's software. Can't keep reloading software. Without sending data to computer I lose rainfall amounts at midnight. Using usb cable that came with it, new energizer batteries, full signal and on an iMac.

I mean, I hate to hear you're having the same problem but I'm glad I'm not alone, just wish AcuRite would do something about their program. Lost connection twice in the last 12 hours and I'm not always home to keep restarting their program.

Did it again this morning, got home and restarted the program and it works fine now... pretty sure it's not my end.

And again today... No reason.. Restarted the application and it works again... Really annoying. Please fix it!

Same here again. Lucky to get one day out of it. I am going to return it if i can get through the line for customer service. I got this model for the computer connection. If it doesn't do that then I guess it is faulty as the software is part of the package.

What version of the IMac are you using? Do you have the display on USB mode 3? Does it say the display is detected?

I am not sure since I am at work but I believe it has either Sierra or High Sierra OS update. Probably 5 or 6 Year’s old. 21.5”. Display is on USB 3 computer says it is not detected yet it will receive data at the same time.

I, unfortunately, invested in the Acurite Access, the new model of the smart hub and just got it hooked up. It connected easily and is sending data through the router and not my computer so my computer can rest and sleep again! I'll let you know if I have any trouble with this new set up.

After several days on having the Access, my computer sleeps whenever it wants to and I have not lost any connection in sending data. Even got a special offer on an Access through Acurite for $90 off.

  • Hi Guys, Me too. But it was a simple fix... I'm thinking that the Hub 09155M... This unit may not have as good as a receiving antenna as the console. It was simple I just moved the hub. Setting next or in the same vicinity, with the console, the hub would work then it wouldn't, frustrating... My house is completely wired with cat5 so I just moved it to a closer location to my 5N1... Also, I found a way to check the hub to make sure it's reporting to public service like Weather Underground etc... W/U ID. KALRAINB19
