PC Connect no data received

My PC Connect is not receiving data.  It detects the display but the transfer button just says "(Wait...)".  I've restarted my computer, cleared the data in the display, the display is received data from the 5in1.  When I check devices I see the Chaney Instrument.  What can I do?

Hello Thomas,

Please make sure that you have the display on USB mode 3. This will allow it to receive the data and transmit online. Have a good day!

I have exactly the same problem with my model 1525. The manual says Mode 1 or3 to store data but I have the same problem with Data Transfer status "wait". I'm not trying to share on the internet, just trying to download data to the computer for my son's science project.

Mine just started doing this last week and now my weather station is useless. Does it maybe have something to do with a microsoft patch that might have been installed?

Hello All,

Please make sure you have your display in USB mode 3 (depending on the model number of the display you may not have a USB mode). On the PC Connect software under status it should say the display console is detected. Below that last data received should be a current date and time stamp. Below that My AcuRite Sharing should say Data Sending. If it does not please go to Weather Sharing, and make sure you have the box checked that says share my weather data. You will enter your Device ID/ Mac address. Below that you will click share now. Under status you will then see My AcuRite Sharing: Data sending. You will then go to My AcuRite.com, and log into your account. Go to settings and devices and enter your information as requested. If you are not getting the data received, please unplug the usb cord from your computer, and the display for about 30 seconds. Plug them back in wait a minute to see if it shows display is detected. If it does not please try a different USB cord. Please let us know if this doesn't resolve your problem. Thank you. Have a good day!

I'm having this exact problem.
My data transferred every 12 minutes for almost 24 hours then suddenly stopped transferring.
I have followed your suggested procedures using USB 3 setting - no help.
Where are we suppose to get another special USB cable from?

I have the same problem and followed the above without result.  The device is detected, but the transfer button says "Wait".  When I look on my devices, the Chaney Instrument device is shown, but it indicates that the USB device driver did not load properly.  Since I have already tried rebooting the display multiple times (losing all the data in the process!), I think there is a more basic problem with your driver, at least for Windows 7.  And, yes, the display is in USB mode 3.

Same here.... Worked a couple of weeks ago no problem
Seems like perhaps a MS update broke it?
Just hangs on "waiting"
tried all the resets - device manager shows no errors either.

Ideas?

Been there; done that.  In fact, I uninstalled the software from my PC (v2.0.3), re-downloaded the latest version from your website (also, v.2.0.3) and installed that software on my PC.  No change.  PC Connect can detect that the display is connected, but no transfer occurs.  When I plug in the display after starting PC Connect, the "Chaney Instrument" device shows up, but with a Caution flag.  When I look at the hardware properties of the device, the device status shows, "This device cannot start. (Code 10)".

I frequently have this issue. The only way I've found that will correct it is to unplug the USB cord from the computer and then plug it into a DIFFERENT USB port. This usually fixes it.

Hello Bob,
Do you have you computer set to High performance or Balanced? If your computer is on Balanced, please change to High Performance. After this if the issue continues, open your control panel and click on 'Hardware and Sound' then 'Devices and Printers'. Here you should see a device labeled "Chaney" Please Right click on the device to uninstall it. After the name of the device is removed, disconnect the device and restart the computer. Re-install the PC Connect software. Re-connect the USB with the display. Once you have everything set up again, please let us know if you have any other issues. Thank you.

Yeah. All that procedure works but it's a big nuisance to have to do this every third or fourth time I boot my computer. Acurite connect doesn't appear to be very robust.

I was having the same problem and found my Norton Firewall was blocking the software from running.

Opened Norton Security / Settings / Firewall / Program Control / Add / Acurite / AcuRiteConnect.exe / OK / Allow Always

I don't know if other Firewall programs are blocking the program from running. I can only state what I found on my PC running Windows 10.

I am having the same issue (no data received from indoor display) and tried all the troubleshooting steps (used reset button on unit, reinstalled software, checked cabling, tried different USB port, checked to make sure firewall wasn't an issue, etc.)  I have an AcuRite 02064MA1 Pro Weather Station running PC connect. This is a brand new unit and it worked like a charm for the first week and a half.

Hello Jennifer,

Please unplug the USB connection for about 30 seconds and plug it back in. If that doesn't correct the problem, please power down the computer and then open up the software and plug the USB back into the computer. It should come up with a current date and time stamp. Thank you. Have a good day!

Change the "Set USB MODE" to "Mode 4"!!!

I know they are preaching it on this form and in the installation booklet to set to "Mode 3"  but I went through everything they advised to and it still didn't work. Changed it to Mode "4" and boom, everything started coming in perfectly.

I am having the exact same problem, it worked for a while and then stopped.  I tried everything, resetting the unit, unplugging the USB cable, reinstalling the software.  I even tried it on both a Mac and a PC.  Clearly there is an issue with the software if so many people are having the same issue.

I knew I should have paid a little more and got a better unit, because this is unacceptable.

Hello Penelope,

When you say it worked a while and then stopped what are you getting on the software? Please make sure you have your display in USB mode 3(depending on the model number of the display you may not have a USB mode). On the PC Connect software under status it should say the display console is detected. Below that last data received should be a current date and time stamp. I'm having a similar issue. Mine has operated beautifully, migrated to the new My Acurite no problem, then the day after I installed Chrome on my PC, I got the alert that it was not sending to Weather underground. When I try to establish the connection, it detects the display immediately, but fails to receive data. After trying for awhile, the program quits. I have disconnected and reconnected the cable, restarted the computer, all to no avail. Is there a known incompatability/conflict with Google Chrome?

Hello Gaines,

What is the model number of your weather station? We would recommend doing a factory reset on your display.

To do a factory reset: (THIS WILL CLEAR ALL OF YOURHISTORY AND YOUR SETTINGS)

Please verify that you are using a name brand (Rayovac or Energizer) standardalkaline batteries in the display unit. We do not recommend using anything thatis heavy duty, rechargeable, store brand or Lithium inside of the display.

- Remove all power, AC adapter and batteries, from the display unit.
- Press and hold down the pin hole reset button, located in the batterycompartment, for 20 seconds.
- Plug back into AC power and insert recommended batteries.
- Press and hold down the pin hole reset button for an additional 20seconds.
- Verify that the unit has powered on and once connection has been made, attempt to set time and date.

Once you have reset the display put the USB mode back on 3. (note not all displays have a USB mode it will depend on your model number)

Plug the display back into the computer via the USB and wait and see if it receives data on the software. Please let us know if this does not correct the problem. Thank you. Enjoy your day!

Thank you, Jennifer. The reset corrected the issue. I am running a model 01035 and using Rayovac standard alkaline batteries.

Had the same problem. Switched USB mode to 4, unplugged USB cable and then plugged it back in.  Then it showed data transfer from display. Switched back to USB 3 on display and it began transmitting to Acurite and finally Weather Underground.

Got my weather station UPC 01092DiA1 for Christmas and I am trying to connect to an iMac. Getting same things as above, it sees the displays, USB mode set to 3, tried restarting computer resetting the USB cable. It worked this morning transfer every 12 minutes for 48 then it stops. VERY FRUSTRATED with this software!

I am getting all the same issues as everyone else. I have tried all the steps listed. My PC Connect is 2 weeks old. About every other day the unit just stops sending data. The application shows it is still detected but it just stops. My computer does not sleep, it is a server that is always running. Unplugging the USB and plugging it back in does not work. If I unplug the unit, restart the computer, plug it back in it will start working most of the time but then stops after 2-3 days again. This is very frustrating!!!

Hello Dennis,

What operating system are you using on the computer?  What is the model number of your weather station? How Much RAM is on the computer?  Make sure you have the USB controllers unchecked to allow the computer to turn off this device to save power. Thank you.

I have not been able to get the unit to communicate with PC Connect. I have restarted the computer, reinstalled the software, cleared all the data on the unit and plugged it into a different USB port. The software says indoor display detected and last data received shows a few seconds after I plugged it in but no update after that. Sharing status shows Waiting for data. USB mode 3 and 4 offer the same results. Any suggestions?

I've wrote my suggestions several places in these forums.  get rid of PC connect and try VIS Reader:

Here's my solution to PC Connect issues

1.     Update all your drivers for USB hubs

2.     Go into power management (google if you need details) and turn off settings that put your USB hubs to sleep

3.     If none of that works (and for many, like me, it does not) download VIS Reader http://www.valleyinfosys.com/visreader.html  It is basically the reader you see when PC Connect first starts up.

The difference is that they keep VIS Reader updated and debugged regularly and customer support and documentation (http://forum1.valleyinfosys.com/Downloads/VISReader-Documentation.pdf ) is excellent!  Lots of free features and even more with a sub.  If you sub, mention buckizard for some extra.

It is designed as a replacement for Acurite’s software and no other programs are needed.

Good luck!  After my computer, PC Connect, and more kept freezing, locking up, gaps in data, etc, with VIS Reader over a month and not one problem or gap!

I am having the same issues with no data.
Dashboard says wait all the time.  I do not know where to find the usb3 or 4 settings so I don't know if that is it or not.  Seems like there should be an easier way to do all of this,

The USB 3/4 settings are on the display. Hit the menu button or icon and scroll until you see USB Mode. Use the arrows to scroll up or down (1-4) and hit the button to confirm.

Hello Mike,

What is the model number of your weather station? Do you get any file at all on the computer?  We show that you are currently offline on My AcuRite as well. Do you keep this continuously connected?

Hello Mike,

If you show offline on My AcuRite you will have no current data. It will display what the sensor last reported the last time it updated.  If you are getting no charts & details it is typically because you are offline and there is no information. For this to continuously transmit it has to be plugged into the computer via USB constantly. You have to have the software running, and the computer has to be on and online at all times. If it goes into sleep mode it will stop transmitting. Thank you.

I am have the same problem.
Indoor Display: Detected
Last data received: 4/25/2017 4:01:47 PM
My Acurite Sharing: Waiting for data

I got to this point by resetting the display.
It is now 4:59 PM and no additional data has been transferred although PC Connect is set for Automatic transfers every 12 minutes.
I have fought this for 3 days and am really frustrated with PC Connect.

I followed all the advice by various individuals as listed previously.  Finally took the advice of Tom Buckner and downloaded VIS Reader.  It connected immediately and continually updates.  Problem solved!!!
