pc connect mac csv files not appearing

My ongoing saga with PC Connect for Mac to my 5 in 1 unit continues. After reinstalling multiple times, hard resets of the console, USB cable changes,  etc, I cannot reliably get csv files downloaded UNLESS I create a new destination folder every download and manually download to it.

If I don't, the download appears to occur (I get the window that pops up indicating the download is occurring, but no csv file is created. No log file is created either. The console buffer is erased, so the console thinks the download occurred OK.

My Mac also knows a csv file was attempted to be created as when I try a subsequent download after creating a new destination folder, the csv file created has a suffix added indicating it is the next in a sequence. As an example my initial download on a day will be titled "acuriteweather_180117.csv" and subsequent downloads are titled "acuriteweather_180117_1.csv", "acuriteweather_180117_2". etc.

I have had 0 success getting data to append to an existing file.

Yesterday, after my initial download going missing, I reset everything again & got multiple downloads that worked as expected (ie several new csv files into the same destination file). However, this morning the initial download into the same destination folder that worked yesterday went into never never land again. I reverted to my old technique & on my next try was able to manually download into a new folder - only trouble being that I had lost the hours of data that went missing. As per the example above, the csv file created was ***_1.csv, so my mac had thought a file was being created

Getting v frustrated. One would think a buffer download with some basic error checking capabilities  would be relatively simple to create. I would even be happy if I had the capability to manually delete the buffer contents on a download as I could scrub the data once I have it on my machine and can verify its integrity, but to lose it all with no log file created??? Very 1980's performance and not a great piece of software IMO.

running on a MacBook Pro 13" with OSX 10.12.2. Same problem if I try to either a 2011 or 2016 machine.

Hello Sar,

Are you using automatic transfers or are you manually transferring the information on the computer?

I get the same result with both. automatic downloads have worked sporadically as long as the mac is never shut down, but if it is, will not write to an existing folder. As I don't wish to continue to lose data, I now only download manually, but still must create  a new empty destination folder each download.

Hello SAR,

This is a bug in the software that we are aware of and will be working on. You need to open the file location and select the folder where you want it save. You may need to do this a couple of times. We will be working on getting this corrected so you do not have to do this constantly. Thank you.

Tx. The only additional thing is that if there is a csv file already in the folder when I navigate to it when initiating a download, it will not write to that folder, but will erase the data on the console as though it has. The folder I create must be empty for the csv file to be created

Hello Sar,

When you download the file save it as a different file each time. It is automatically going to default to a specific file name. We would recommend something such as AcuRite 1-30-17, and then if you download the file a week later change it to AcuRite  2-6-17.

I too experience this problem. Every time the app is restarted, I have to specify the folder again, turn on both sharing abilities. Another, even more bothering, is the setting to prevent system sleep. I have to disable it constantly and don't like it functionality. It prevents my display from sleeping.

The problem is your software overrides the display sleep setting so it never goes to sleep. Personally, I would rather your software not even attempt to prevent sleep and leave that to the systems energy saver preference as it should be.

If I had to rename the csv file every week, or otherwise, this is a simple task your software should be able to do, not me. A computer is supposed to simplify these things, not make them cumbersome.

Hello Kerwin,

If the computer goes to sleep it would not be able to transmit online.  Having to rename the files at this time is due to the bug in the software that is being worked on. Thank you.

The system allows me to set BOTH display AND system sleep. Your software SHOULD NOT prevent these settings from working as they do! I am becoming more disappointed with this weather station simply because the software doesn't function properly and because of the replies you are leaving Jennifer. If I wanted a completely autonomous weather station, I would get such a device. I want to control it the way I want, not your broken software!

Hello Kerwin,

We are aware there are some problems in the software. We apologize but until the bug is corrected this would be the work around to get the information on your computer.
