PC Connect for Windows 8 Phone or iPod

Recently I purchased an AcuRite Professional Weather Center model 01036/01092 with the expectation that I could see weather information on my iPad Pro from anywhere in the house.  When I set it up and tried the iOS app it didn't work, saying something about server not setup and device not claimed.  Apparently I didn't read enough detail on the specifications because I wasn't expecting that I would have to connect the display to a computer USB port executing PC Connect 24x7.  Now I'm stuck trying to figure out how to run a 50ft USB cable from the kitchen to where my desktop is setup.  However I do have a Windows 8 phone and an iPod that I could dedicate to data collection but the PC Connect software will not execute on either. They both have a USB input cable.  Is there any chance of getting a version of PC Connect that can execute on either of these platforms?  I did see something from Microsoft called "Project Centennial" that can convert a desktop app to a uwp app should I pursue that path?

Hello Steve,

The software needs to be downloaded to a Windows based computer. The computer would need to be up and running and on the internet at all times. The display will need to be plugged directly into the computer via USB at all times to transmit the information online. Once you have the software and your account setup on My AcuRite then you will be able to see it from a Android or Apple smartphone using the mobile application called My AcuRite. Please make sure you have your display in USB mode 3(depending on the model number of the display you may not have a USB mode). On the PC Connect software under status it should say the display console is detected. Below that last data received should be a current date and time stamp. Below that My AcuRite Sharing should say Data Sending. If it does not please go to Weather Sharing, and make sure you have the box checked that says share my weather data. You will enter your Device ID/ Mac address. Below that you will click share now. Under status you will then see My AcuRite Sharing: Data sending. You will then go to My AcuRite.com, and log into your account. Go to settings and devices and enter your information as requested. Thank you. Have a great day!
