PC Connect for MAC freezes during setup

I upgraded to the new software about October of last year. After downloading and unzupping, I executed the program. I noticed as I was populating the fields, there seemed to be a delay and then the spinning wheel. I waited for about 5 minutes and it finally allowed me to go back to entering the rest of the details. Once everything was completed, I started both services, acurite send and Weather Underground. It started sending immediately but then I started noticing it would go offline everynight around 11:00. So I made sure to set it to not allow the Mac to go to sleep. This fixed it for a few weeks and then it started going offline again after I upgraded to Sierra. Immediately it would go offline and I would have to Force Quit and restart. It would allow me to start Acurite Send, but then the dreaded color wheel would start spinning again. I have been unable to get it to start again. Is there a fix in the works for this? I went back online to see if there was a new upgrade but it is the same version.

Hello ITSquire,

What operating system are you using on your Mac? Is there possibly a setting on the computer that is over riding it going to sleep?   Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall the software? Thank you.

Jennifer,
I am using OSSierra Version 10.12.3. The system has been set to never sleep in the Energy Saver settings in Preferences since I first installed it. I have uninstalled and re-installed twice with the same thing happening each time.

Go to your system preferences/energy saver and check your settings. Make sure your computer is set to never sleep.

Sorry to say but I think this is just another example of bad software. On my Mac I don't get the color wheel but if it is not the active window on my machine it stops reporting.

I remember that on my iMac that reporting would stop whenever the display was allowed to sleep.  Once I turned that to never, reporting continued.  This was one of the reasons why I went to a smartHUB rather than use the Mac version of PC Connect.  I have a feeling that at least with my iMac and the El Capitan release of operating system, the USB port would shut down when the screen shut down.  Maybe a specific iMac situation that may not occur on other Macs.

Hello All,

The mac software is something that we continue to look into. At this time we have no further updates regarding this. We do apologize for the inconvenience.

Hello Rojelio,

Does the app stay open or close? Are you able to get it up and running?

Hi. I am able to keep the application open. But the rainbow wheel continuously keeps spinning. I then have to go to the icon and 'Force Quit'. It's been like this since I purchased it in November. Difference is usually after a couple of times of 'force quitting' it would finally work. Now it doesn't respond at all.

Hello Rojelio,

Please uninstall the software and reinstall it. Before you reinstall the software do a search on the computer for AcuRite to make sure everything is deleted off of the computer. Thank you.
