PC Connect Data Points Way Off (01036)

I had previously sent my 01036 unit in for repair, because it would not save any data out of PC Connect.  That's resolved, but the data coming out of the unit has data points that are WAY OFF.

For instance, on My Acurite, it says we have had rain seven times this month.  Yet, it hasn't rained once.  In fact, this week, it says we got 2.62 inches of rain.  We haven't had one drop.  Also today it says the Heat Index is 1440F over the past 7 days.

On Dec. 4th, it say it was 165 degrees.  However, if I go to the exported data, I don't see the 165 degrees.  However, I do see multiple entries over the past month that say the peak wind is exactly 30.02 sometimes for an hour.  It always drops three decimal places when displaying this errant number.

I would appreciate any help with this, even though I think the unit has gone bad again.

Hello David,

We are sorry you feel this way. I was reading the case notes, and I do not see where the temperature & humidity module was replaced in the RMA. I would be happy to check with our quality department regarding this. Please let us know what is going on with your rain gauge, we would be happy to assist you with it.

According to the paper that came back with the unit said it was replaced Plus as stated. They found nothing wrong with the unit. Why is it that the wind speed is working perfectly.

Hello David,

There should have been a paper with the test results from the wind speed tests that we did. It should not state anything was replaced. There was no issue with the product when we did our testing here. Please let us know if there is anything further we can assist you with.

Hello Michael,

Is this information on the display, the PC Connect CSV or My AcuRite?  When you export the data are you exporting from the PC Connect software or My AcuRite? Are you seeing these readings on the display at all or just on My AcuRite?

Hi Jennifer,

I'm not seeing any issues on the LCD.  The CSV data do not show the rain or temperature issues either.  The CSV file does have the peak wind issue where it is stuck at 30.02 for periods of time.  I have not tried to cross-reference the peak winds to the My Acurite. I'll check later today.  The rain and temperature  issues only show on My Acurite, and Weather Underground.

Hello Michael,

Let me know the results after you check. Are you able to provide us with your Wunderground Station ID so we can take a look at it? Thank you.

My Acurite and Weather Underground both show rain on Saturday that didn't occur, and both showed the same amount of rain  On Dec. 16,  it showed .67" of rain at 8:20am on My Acurite, and 5:36am on Weather Undergound.  The front display shows zero.  I had my sprinklers on Standby, so it is not the sprinklers.  Also at 5:26am, it shows on Weather Underground a peak gust of 526.9mph at 5:26am and 5:31am.  I don't know where it is coming up with this data. I can't think of anything for me to do in a situation like this.

Hello Michael,

Are any of these readings showing on the display? Was there any rain that registered for the 16th on the display? Do you have any calibrations on the PC Connect software?

Hi Jennifer,

It took me a while, but I went through everything I can think of.  I eventually thought it might be the PC that the display was connected to, so when I got a new PC, I downloaded a fresh install of PC Connect.  I only have calibrations on the barometric pressure.  I very accurately set the clock on the display so it is within seconds of the time standard.  Everything went find for about five days, and then the dreaded fantom precipitation occurred.  It never registered on the display, but it did go to both the Acurite website and Weather Underground.  Today the websites said it registered .62 inches of rain in five minutes, yet no rain fell, and the display shows no rain.  I went through some old data, and in the month of May in 2017, WU shows that we had three days of exactly 0.17 inches of rain.  That's just not possible.  I think I have a faulty display unit AGAIN.

Hello Michael,

What day did the rain register? How often after that his it registered? What is the version of the Pc Connect software you are using? What version of Windows are you using?  Are you getting the erroneous temperature readings as well? Thank you for providing us with this information.
