OUTDOOR TEMPERATURE INCORRECT

I read through the posts and did the following. The display still reads -40 for an outdoor temperature. I have model #01515DIA1.

“1.Bring both the
sensor and display unit indoors and position them side by side.

2.Remove all batteries from the sensor.
3.Remove all power from the display unit.
4.Wait 1 minute to ensure that any remaining battery power has discharged from both units.
5.Inside each battery compartment you'll find an A-B-C switch, be sure these match each other.  You may also want to try changing to a different setting.
6.Reinstall batteries in outdoor sensor first.
7.Reinstall batteries (and/or connect AC adapter) in display last.
8.Let units sit within a couple feet of each other for 5 minutes to ensure a wireless signal is received.
*The display should receive the signal within several minutes.
9.After a connection has been established you may place the sensor outdoors.
*If the signal connection fails after the units are separated try a new location for the display unit, the sensor or both.

I have tried this and after buying a new upgrade sensor on Model #01515DIA1 because it will not read outdoor temps, it is still  showing -40 on outside temp. I have done the hard reset and also followed the instructions above. Please Help !!!

Hello Jeana,

What is the model number of the sensor? Where was this purchased? How long have you had the sensor for?  You said you purchased a new upgrade sensor, did you purchase the whole sensor or the dual solar assembly upgrade?  When you did the hard reset did you change the A-B-C channels on both the display and sensor?  If you have done the troubleshooting steps for this, and it still shows -40 we would start a warranty claim on your sensor. Depending on the model number, we may have a replacement piece that is compatible. Once we have this information we can confirm if the sensor is compatible.

The model Model #01515DIA1, I purchased at Lowes in 12/10/13, and the dual solar assembly last week.Yes I changed both  channels when I did the hard reset, and it still shows -40, however all else but the temp and humidity are working.

Hello Jeana,

If you have tried the troubleshooting steps listed and it did not correct the issue, we would recommend replacing the sensor.

https://www.acurite.com/5-in-1-weather-sensor-temperature-humidity-rainfall-wind-speed-wind-directio... This is the single solar panel sensor.

Jeana after reading your posts it sounds like you have a 5 in 1 sensor that the temp / humidity sensor inside went bad. Acurite sells a replacement sensor for the newer 5 in 1s but I think yours is a couple of years to old for this part https://www.acurite.com/temperature-and-humidity-sensor-replacement-for-5-in-1-weather-sensors.html. It also sounds like you purchased a pro upgrade for your 5 in 1 thinking that it would fix the problem but the temp sensor is not part of the upgrade part, but not wasted money. You should order a new regular 5 in 1 https://www.acurite.com/5-in-1-weather-sensor-temperature-humidity-rainfall-wind-speed-wind-directio...  connect it to your system  before you mount it to your see that it works, once you see all is working install the pro upgrade. Recheck  and see that all is still working and then mount the sensor in its location. Now it is said that the replacement temp / sensor can be installed in the older 5 in 1s by cutting off the plug and soldering in the part, but Acurite does not recommend it and if your old 5 in 1 is even older they used a different  sensor that the new none cannot replace. Good luck.
