Outdoor sensor for 02044 W replaced with new, but still unable to synch. 2 horizonal bars for outdoor temp. What next?

Outdoor sensor apparently "died" with corroded terminal. Installed fresh batteries in both units, but could not get units to synch. No signal transmitted to indoor unit. Replaced outside unit with new unit and tried to synch. Outdoor unit sending signal, but indoor sensor tries to receive signal (increasing bars in display) but quits after 5 minutes. Have waited for almost an hour but still no synch.

Martha sorry if these seam like stupid questions but are you sure you have the right replacement sensor they make several that look the same  it should be this one   (https://www.acurite.com/replacement-sensor-606tx.html ) .  You say that the new sensor is sending a signal I guess you see the red light flash every 15 / 30 seconds. Try removing the batteries from the display only for a few minutes and then reinstall them, the start up order makes a difference.
