Odd outdoor humidity reading on Weather Station Display Model #: 01517RM

The outdoor humidity reading on my weather station display Model #: 01517RM always shows 99 percent humidity at night. After the sun comes up, the humidity reading decreases until it shows an accurate reading for daytime humidity. Then, after the sun goes down each day, the reading gradually increases until it reaches 99 percent again. All other readings on the display work perfectly.

Hello Randall,

How high is the sensor mounted? It is possible that in the morning if there is moisture getting inside the sensor or dew is causing it to read 99% humidity. Typically mounting the sensor higher will correct this issue.

Interesting idea. The sensor is 10 feet of the ground but it is mounted a foot or so above a garden shed with a cedar shake roof that is less than a year old. When you mentioned dew I started to wonder if that roof is part of the issue. We have had a very wet winter and the roof could be very saturated. I'll keep an eye on this reading as we get into warmer and dryer weather.

Hello Randall,
If dew could be the issue, we would recommend relocating the sensor. Being that close to the roof could certainly be the issue. Please let us know after monitoring if the issue continues. Thank you.
