New 00986 Not Working

Using new batteries.  Followed the directions, batteries in the display first, followed by batteries in sensor 1, then batteries in sensor 2.  Got the red flash on both sensors.  The display is only showing dashes.

Pulled out all the batteries, tried again, still only getting dashes.

Tried the reset button, no luck, still only seeing dashes.

Is it time to send this back to Amazon?

Please verify you are using the battery recommendations and try the troubleshooting steps listed below. If the issue continues, please let us know. You do have a one year warranty from the date of purchase. Thank you.

Batteries:

•Verify you are using fresh alkaline batteries or lithium batteries (when temperature is below -4°F/-20°C) in sensor.

•Quality brand batteries are recommended, including Duracell, Rayovac, Energizer, or Kirkland.

•Verify batteries are fresh. The battery expiration date should be at least 6 years out. Batteries can lose 3% power or more every year in storage.

•Heavy duty, extra strength or generic / store brand batteries are not recommended for use with AcuRite products because they may cause performance irregularities due to the way these types of batteries disperse power. Each battery should not exceed 1.6 volts.

•Rechargeable batteries are not recommended for use with AcuRite products because they may cause performance irregularities due to the voltage instability of these types of batteries.

•Mixing different battery types (brands, old/new, etc.) is not recommended.


Hard reset:

- Bring all three units side by side and remove all batteries

- Place batteries into display first

- Place batteries into both sensors

- Allow units to sit side by side until they connect-then place in freezer/fridge

I have the same problem only purchased 2 weeks ago.  I am in Australia.  Changed with a different set of batteries, done reset as above have sent 4 hours playing with it achieved nothing, whats next?
