Need Help Registering Device

Setting up the AcuRite Professional Weather Center (Model 01536). Display & sensor both set up, but problems trying to get it registered online. Downloaded the AcuRite App onto my iPhone & tried registering it there. When I hit 'next' after Step 1 (where I entered the Device ID), I got error message "Device must be registered & be reporting data to claim it." Happened several times, so I went online on desktop to the MyAcurite website & tried registering it there; got exact same message. In reading through everything, it refers to connecting to the internet via USB. We are on Wi-Fi, so I didn't think we'd need to connect via USB. Is that my problem?? Unfortunately, I am NOT technically savvy at all, so bear with me if this is a really stupid question!! Thanks for any assistance.

MicheleB  I cant find your model listed so helping you will be tricky but the acurite equipment does not work on wifi. Do you have a smarthub or a PC connect unit?

Thank you.  The instruction manual says PROFESSIONAL WEATHER CENTER (model 01536 / 8900123).  I don't know if it's a smarthub or PC connect unit?  How would I know that?  It did come with a USB.  Tried calling the customer support #, but apparently they're closed until Monday.

Aside from the sensor and the display (& the above-mentioned USB), it didn't come with anything else.  What would the smarthub or PC connect unit look like?

Ok this can be confusing and their model numbers are also, a smart hub is a unit that connects to your router  and has its own  power supply it lets you post your weather station on line without having a computer on 24/7. A PC connect unit is a display that you connect to your computer with the USB cable that they supplied sounds like this is what you have. I don't know much about the PC connect because I use the hub. I do know that you will need to download a program from them in order to make it work.

I can tell you if you are looking to post you weather station online and share with weather underground the smarthub is a better way to go.  They just did a big upgrade and you will see on here some people are having problems but for the most part its working.

Thanks for your help.  I'm not looking to share anything with Weather Underground or anything.  Just thought it would be interesting to have our 'home' weather info on my iPhone for those times when we're not home and wondering what it's doing (weather-wise) at home.  It appears the sensor & display are working fine, so I guess if I can't view it on my iPhone, it's not a huge deal.  I appreciate you trying to help this non-techy!!  :-)

No problem you can get it in your phone with what you have but it ties up a computer. As I said with the hub set up you can do it also and you don't have to share.

Hello MicheleB,

This unit is a PC Connect display.  You can view your weather station on My AcuRite or the application.  You will need to download the software PC Connect.  I have added a link below that will bring you to the software.  Once you have installed the software, PC Connect needs to be connected to add the MAC address/Device ID.  Under Data Transfer you should check the box if you want automatic data transfers, then chose how often you would like them to transfer.  Below you should see Weather Sharing, check the box that says Share my Weather Data, a box should appear asking for your Device ID, enter the 12 digit ID and click 'Share Now'. Under status you should see the display detected, below you should see a time stamp of the current data transfer.  Below you should see My AcuRite Sharing Active.  After this is set up you can click the plus button on My AcuRite and add your Display Device ID.  Please let us know if you have any other questions.  Thank you and have a great day!
