Hello Richard,
Please verify you are following the battery recommendations and try the troubleshooting steps listed below. If this does not correct the issue, please let us know. What is the exact model number listed on the bottom of your sensor? When and where was this purchased? Thank you.

Batteries:

•Verify you are using fresh alkaline batteries or lithium batteries (when temperature is below -4°F/-20°C) in sensor.

•Quality brand batteries are recommended, including Duracell, Rayovac, Energizer, or Kirkland.

•Verify batteries are fresh. The battery expiration date should be at least 6 years out. Batteries can lose 3% power or more every year in storage.

•Heavy duty, extra strength or generic / store brand batteries are not recommended for use with AcuRite products because they may cause performance irregularities due to the way these types of batteries disperse power. Each battery should not exceed 1.6 volts.

•Rechargeable batteries are not recommended for use with AcuRite products because they may cause performance irregularities due to the voltage instability of these types of batteries.

•Mixing different battery types (brands, old/new, etc.) is not recommended.

Hard reset:

- Bring both units side by side and remove all batteries, unplug display if it has an ac adapter

- Change the ABC Switch to a different setting and ensure that both are on the same setting. example - If on A, move both to C

- Place batteries into the outdoor sensor first

- Place batteries into display

- Allow units to sit side by side until they connect.

Richard the VN1TXCA2 is one of the 5 in 1 sensors that will accept the replacement board for the temp and humidity. Are the other sensors in the 5 in 1 working ok? the board only fixes the temp / humidity.      https://www.acurite.com/temperature-and-humidity-sensor-replacement-for-5-in-1-weather-sensors.html

Hello Sylvia,

What is the model number of your weather station? When you say you set the outdoor readings what do you mean? Did you calibrate the weather station? Once we have your specific model number we can provide you with troubleshooting steps.

Hello Richard,

Here is the link to the replacement sensor. https://www.acurite.com/temperature-and-humidity-sensor-replacement-for-5-in-1-weather-sensors.html It is currently out of stock until about the beginning of March. This replacement sensor can help if you are experiencing the following issues:

  • Temperature stuck on -40 or 158 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Humidity stuck on 1% or 99%
  • Inconsistent temperature or humidity readings (ex: 78, then 20, then 115, etc.)
