Missing data due to time change

Because of the clocks being set back on Nov. 5th, the hour between 1 AM and 2 AM was repeated. The graphs on myacurite show two readings for each time interval in that time period, as it should, However the CSV data does not show any data for the first time through that time period. So an hour of data is missing. Can you please restore that data to the CSV file? Obviously the data wasn't lost in your system since it is showing on the graphs, but it is missing from the CSV file. Thank you.

Hello Gregory,

If you re-download the CSV file, are you still missing information? Thank you.

First of all that kind of error is inexcusable. Second of all, your answer wasn't very informative. What caused the problem? Why did it affect some people and not others? What is being done to correct the problem?

And yes, you are able to restore the information. The information is still in your system, since it is showing up on the graphs. And since you have the information in your system, you can create a CSV file with it. You may have to do it manually, but you can do it.

In the future, I do not want my information adjusted for daylight savings time. Thank you.

Hello Gregory,

We are very sorry for any inconvenience you experienced because of this issue. We are looking into a fix to prevent this with future time changes.  The issue that occurred was when the time rolled back an hour there was a second set of readings overlaying the original readings for that hour, thus causing the weird see-saw like pattern which you had experienced from in the early hours on 11/5.  When we downloaded the CSV file from my AcuRite from your account for this day, we did not see any missing data.  I have provided a snip below of the CSV downloaded from your account.  Please let us know if you have any questions. Thank you.

Acurite: The simplest way to avoid this issue is to store as UTC timestamp, which includes the TZ offset
BTW my old Lacrosse suffered this issue, a real PITA for those who want more frequnt than 1hr charts

I can see from that snippet that you posted that a whole hour is missing. After 1:55, it should go back to 1:00 and repeat that hour again, which it does not, as you can see from your snippet.

Hello Gregory,

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you.  During daylight saving time, you had duplicate readings for the hour that fell back on my AcuRite. This did cause your CSV file to show one of the duplicate hours data.  We are looking at future improvements and fixes to handle DST in the future. Please let us know if you have any further questions. Thank you.

The CSV file should have showed both of that duplicate hour. What caused the problem? Am I the only one who had this problem? Or did this happen to everyone due to poorly designed software? I was really astonished that this was an issue at all.

Hello Gregory,

The CSV file did not account for the DST change, and that is why you do not see the hour repeat. It provides the updates in the 5 minute intervals. It is something we will consider for future development. This happened to anyone who observes DST. There is no way for us to not adjust your information for DST it is based off the time zones that observe DST. We do apologize for any inconvenience  this has caused you.

I am shocked that the hour's worth of data was not saved. You should have warned us this would happen. We could have at least downloaded the data at 1:56 AM before it was erased, had we known about it. We rely on you to have the data and you failed. The software you are using is garbage! How could you not take into account the time change? Unbelievable!
