Hello Jose,

What model number lightning detector are you referring to. We have a hand held portable detector and one that is compatible with certain displays. The 02020 is the portable one and it does have an audio alert. It is a beep that comes from the detector when it detects lightning.  There is an option to silence it for 60 seconds as well. I have posted an insert from the manual below explaining the audio alert and then how to disable and enable it.

Audio alerts (beeps) are enabled by default each time the device is powered on. Audio alerts can be temporarily silenced for up to 60 minutes. To temporarily silence audio alerts, press and hold the “LIGHT” button for 5 seconds. The device will display “MUTED”. The visual alerts from the LED light and display messages will remain active even when audio alerts have been silenced. When the device detects a lightning strike while audio alerts are muted, the device will display the message,"STRIKES DETECTED! MUTED"along with the strike indicator/flashing LED, updated strike count and updated estimated distance. The device will re-activate audio alerts after 60 minutes or after audio alerts have been re-enabled. To re-enable audio alerts, press and hold the “LIGHT” button for 5 seconds. The device will display “SOUND ON”.

Hello Jose,

When lightning is detected, the sensor will beep and the strike indicator will flash for each of the first 10 strikes. After 10 strikes, the sensor will enter silent mode but will continue to flash. The sensor will stay in silent mode for 2 hours after the last lightning detection. You cannot silence the alert.  Please let us know if you have any questions. Thank you.
