just bought smart hub, how can acurite sell me something that they know is not going to work in 6 months???

i just bought a smart hub in december from the acurite website. now they are saying that it wont work anymore? how can acurite sell me something that they know is not going to work in 6 months??? i now have 2 smart hubs and i can only get a code for one new access. wtf
