I need to monitor INDOOR temp via smartphone?

I recently purchased an AcuRite 5 in 1 weather station with the HD display. I understand that I can connect my 5 in 1 station to the SmartHub and send my readings to AcuRite's smartphone app and I can monitor it wherever I am. This is great, but I need to monitor INDOOR temperature as well. I understand that the indoor temperature reading comes from the HD display and is not transmitted, thus, not able to be received by SmartHub.

I also want to monitor lightning data with the add on lightning sensor that's available, so I will be purchasing it and placing it outdoors. I understand the lightning sensor also monitors temperature, however I'm unsure of how well the sensor would work indoors. Otherwise, could I ideally use the lightning sensor to monitor indoor temperature?

If I purchase an additional temperature sensor for indoor use, can the SmartHub receive it and stream it's data online to the AcuRite app? Or am I only limited to the lightning sensor and the 5 in 1 array that mounts outside?

Josh I will try and answer your questions. Your are correct that the smarthub will get your 5 in 1 sensor on the net. You are also correct that the display does not transmit its info to the smarthub, so you will need to purchase a temp/humid sensor for your indoor temp to get online. Now the lightning sensor it is not compatible with the smarthub, the HD display does receive the lightning data from it but not the temp or humidity. I believe only one display receives the temp/humidity from the lightning sensor. Now the new Atlas 8 unit (not available yet) will monitor lightning and get it online but you would also need the Access (the newer version of the smarthub) to work with the Atlas. The smarthub can monitor up to 10 compatible sensors and your 5 in 1 counts as 1.

The tower (592TXR)   or 6044 w/display sensors are compatible with the older Smarthub (now superceded) and Access. and can be viewed on you MyAcurite App

Hello Josh,
Both Ledrak and Steve U are correct.  The smartHUB and the AcuRite Access are not compatible with the lighting detector at this time. If you would like to monitor the temperature and humidity indoors you would need to add a sensor.  We have quite a few different sensors that can be used inside.  I have provided a link below that will bring you to the compatible sensors. Please let us know if you have any questions. Thank you.

Hi Rachell,  I'm searching for information on reading the indoor temp from my newly purchased Access.  Please confirm whether or not I can read the indoor temp from the Access.  Your literature clear says it can be read.  It doesn't say you need an additional sensor.

Larry in order to see your indoor temp online you need an indoor sensor, the smarthub  and the Access do not have sensors in them (other than the baro) the displays have sensors in them but they do not transmit that info.  Here re some that you can use.
