i have a model 00782 and the outdoor temperature does not display on the indoor unit.

New batteries in both units.  i can see the outdoor unit flash.  units are sitting about a foot apart right now.  Indoor temp displays fine but outdoor does not.  i have tried to hit reset on both units/   still no outdoor temperature displayed

Hi louie,

Please remove all the batteries from your units.  Install the batteries in the outdoor sensor first and check to see that the red light gives a quick flash.  Next, install the batteries in the display and let the units sit side-by-side while they sync.  Ensure you are using fresh alkaline batteries such as Rayovac, Energizer or Duracell copper top; avoid heavy duty or rechargeable batteries as they can cause malfunctions.

Should you need further assistance, please call Customer Support at 877-221-1252.

Hello T.J.,

How long have you had the thermometer for? We do not have replacement parts for this product, however if you have had it less than 1 year we would send a similar thermometer out that is comparable. What is the problem you are experiencing with the thermometer?

Model 00782 is not displaying outside temperature.  The display shows 3 dashes for outside temperature.  I replaced batteries in both the sensor and display units but that did not correct the problem.

Hello Rob,
We answer our forum threads in order Mon-Fri.  We are ending the busiest part of our season which can cause a delay in response.  Please verify you are using the battery recommendations and try the troubleshooting steps listed below. If this does not correct the issue, we would recommend replacing the sensor. When and where was this purchased? Is your sensor tall and skinny like a candy bar or short and stocky like an egg? Thank you.

Batteries:

•Verify you are using fresh alkaline batteries or lithium batteries (when temperature is below -4°F/-20°C) in sensor.

•Quality brand batteries are recommended, including Duracell, Rayovac, Energizer, or Kirkland.

•Verify batteries are fresh. The battery expiration date should be at least 6 years out. Batteries can lose 3% power or more every year in storage.

•Heavy duty, extra strength or generic / store brand batteries are not recommended for use with AcuRite products because they may cause performance irregularities due to the way these types of batteries disperse power. Each battery should not exceed 1.6 volts.

•Rechargeable batteries are not recommended for use with AcuRite products because they may cause performance irregularities due to the voltage instability of these types of batteries.

•Mixing different battery types (brands, old/new, etc.) is not recommended.

Hard reset:

- Bring both units side by side and remove all batteries

- Place batteries into the outdoor sensor first

- Place batteries into display

- Allow units to sit side by side until they connect.
