After reviewing feedback and speaking with a number of you, we are extending the end of service/support of the AcuRite smartHUB to February 28, 2019. Our commitment to meeting the evolving needs of our customer base is as strong as ever, and we recognize discontinuing products can be an adjustment.

While we have already stopped both production and sales of the smartHUB, we recognize many of you have recently purchased the smartHUB and want to become better acquainted with My AcuRite prior to upgrading to the AcuRite® AccessTM.

We’ve also taken into account our customers who have smartHUB’s in second homes, elderly family member’s homes, vacation homes and rental properties and need additional time to implement upgrades in all those locations.

Customers who have a My AcuRite account and who purchased a new AcuRite smartHUB are eligible to upgrade to the AcuRite Access for the introductory price of $39.99 (plus tax and shipping) through March 31, 2018.

In January we sent you an email with a unique coupon code to upgrade to AcuRite Access at the introductory price. If you no longer have this email, you can request it to be resent at go.acurite.com/request-an-acurite-access-upgrade-code.

You can learn more about our new AcuRite Access for My AcuRite here:https://www.acurite.com/access-my-acurite-remote-monitoring.html.

Thank you for your continued patronage and we look forward to exceeding your expectations for years to come.

By not extending the discount period, this essentially accomplishes nothing.  Why not extend the coupon eligibility until the end of service?

I have been trying to order the new AccRite Access remote monitoring for the last two weeks.  Constantly getting  this reply  Gateway Rejected: avs Please try again or attempt refreshing the page.  There is no Chat window coming up on the Checkout page.  Have tried calling support numerous times, left my phone number and I am always 7th or 8th. in line.  Waited on day for 45 minutes on the phone and finally gave up.  How do I get this ordered?  cbenedict@icloud.com.

Too little too late! I have already decided to cut my losses on what I invested in 2017 and move on to a product from a. company that actually gives a. damn about its customers! I have given your. Inferior products all the chances I’m going to give. I only wish the inferiority of Acurite’s products and customer service would have been more apparent before I spent the money.!

My three sensors and hub have worked just fine. But the little extortion scheme they have going will force me to buy something else when it stops working . I just bought mine last sept and I certainly expected to get more than one year service our of it. These guys h az e no morals and are despicable.

Well I guess its a to each there own, But over the years I have had many other brands and let me tell you they have Problems, but I found Acurite has had the least of Problems. I for one don't think they are Inferior. For what we pay for them they are top of the line in that price range. you could go with a professional systems that would cost you thousands plus a cell connection for the data loggers. So as I said for the price point they are great products.

I'm sure the only reason they did this was to get out of what could have been a messy legal situation with the units still under warranty.

"Ready, Fire, Aim" marketing at it's finest.

I agree that the discount program should be extended.

Well I'm not surprised that the smartHUB has been discontinued and end of service with all the complaints in the last year.  Although, I must say that I bit the bullet and purchased the HUB upgrade to the new Access and a BIG difference. The setup was easy, and I like the battery backup feature. The Status is GOOD and Signal Strength is EXCELLENT on ALL of my devices and sensors, and for a week so far everything is working flawlessly. I'm glad AcuRite finally got their act together and produced a good product. Still no comparison to my Davis Vantage Pro 2, but for and inexpensive weather station the AcuRite is not bad as long as the new Access does what it's suppose to do.

Some people will cry over spilled milk and it will always be that way. How about spending 900 a month for health insurance that you hope you never need. Or say you do have cancer and are fighting for your life.....makes 40 bucks seem so trivial.  I also have my new hub installed and it works great !  Instead of crying spend that time doing something productive, hell you can even still get 20-30 bucks out of the old smart hub on EBay  :)

It is not the 40 bucks. It is the extortion for people like me that bought the stuff 3 months ago and the demand more so my equipment will work more than a year. Disgusting.

^^^You're missing the point.  It's not the $40, it's the principal of paying Ransom to use a unit still under warranty.  However they seemed to have dodged this bullet with the delay.

I was going to be travelling a lot in March, and did not want an interruption in my service, so I paid the $40 to get the new unit.  Now that it's extended deadline, it's probably going to stay in its box.  I've had no issues with the smarthub since I bought it last year.   It's great.   I *really* did not need more work to do.  I didn't look at the warranty on the new $40 unit, but if my receipt says Feb. 2018 and my smarthub works until Feb. 2019, and it fails due to infant mortality, then that's going to be a mess since my warranty will already be expired when I actually hook it up.
It is really bizarre that the $40 offer did not extend until 1 year from the date of the smarthub purchase.

This is certainly a nice compromise and only because of pressure from savvy ACURITE users. This was forced upon them because ACURITE knew that they were in a legal bind as per their lawyers. Warrantees have to be honored.  Philosophically, there is a deeper issue that still exists. Corporate ACURITE needs to execute their plan more carefully. Much damage has been done to their public relations. Owning a SMARTHUB for less than a year and being told its obsolete is not good business practice. I personally would not have bought this SMARTHUB under those terms. ACURITE should honor their rebate code to upgrade to the ACCESAS hub come February 2019 until that date plus 30 days. This will show good faith and assure that existing customer with SMARTHUBS will be back to upgrade.

That wasn't a list of layoffs.  It was a list of companies informing the government of layoffs per state and federal laws.  If I remember correctly, that's like 60 days before layoffs actually occur.

Since there was no notifications on the list, I suspect the layoffs weren't severe enough for such a notice.

Also, we know nothing about how the Acurite division is impacted.

Acurite, listen up.

Here is the situation I, and most others outside the US, are in.  My SmartHUB setup does exactly what I want it to do right now.  I don't want or need a battery backup, or local data storage or increased range.  Having said that, you are expecting me to upgrade my product which is currently serving my needs exactly, at a cost of $100 + due to shipping, duties, exchange rates, etc. I understand those things may be out of your control, but perhaps if you waited for the access to be widely available in other places, like Amazon, and then offered a mail in rebate or discount code to existing smarthub owners, we could avoid all those extra fees before the EOS date.

On top of that, you need to offer me something besides my current functionality.  I have no doubt you have a whole new lineup of sensors in the works for the new access hub. Maybe you have something in the works that I will be interested in, and then want to upgrade to the access to use it.  Until then, I see no reason to upgrade.  There are tons of other products out there that do the basic functionality that I want.  I'm not sure why you expect me to pay to upgrade for the same price I can purchase one of those other systems down the road at a big box store or on Amazon right now.

If all you want to do is extend the EOS period to FEB 2019, fine.  But I see no reason at all not to extend the upgrade discount to that period as well. There is no way in hell I am buying the access before March, and without the discount, and a chance to see how this all pans out and what might be in the works for the access, there is no way I will pay full price to upgrade after March. I will be moving to Davis Instruments.

Thanks for your email Jon.

I invested in a SmartHUB and 10 sensors last year and consider it a valuable addition to my "smarter" home strategy. I have recommended the product to friends, family and the members of several very large Home Automation and Smart Home Facebook groups whose members seek out and discuss affordable, reliable, long range solutions with a good UI for data display and capture. I was excited to learn about your Access upgrade offer but must admit that I was very disappointed that it would only support 7 devices - three less than my current unit, which is working just fine. I would like to add another 10+ sensors to my system but to buy 2 or 3 of your hubs, just to support 21 devices is a bit ridiculous and I believe, presents a headwind to the sale of your systems. Who wants to manage 2-3 hubs and the associated pain of hanging it all off a modem/router? Popular Smart Home hubs can support hundreds of devices, including video streaming and sell for much less. Smart Home users are already burdened with a number of hubs they use for specific solutions but most "talk" to each other and as stated, support large device counts, requiring only one of each.

Please consider supporting more devices for the new Access or start designing a new one that will - the Access should be as least as capable as the device it replaces. Also consider snuggling up to the Smart Home community as they are a very large and growing market, receptive and seeking your product's solution set. You could do worse than becoming compatible with Samsung SmartThings and IFTTT for starters.

Thanks for your leadership in extending support for a system owners enjoy and rely on. Please take the next step and expand the capabilities of the "new and improved" hub.

I agree. I have wanted to add additional sensors, but, thought that it was ridiculous to have to use more than one hub. It is much worse with the new hub. No way am I buying into that. BTW, look into AcuParse. You can keep your existing hardware and use that instead without having to connect to Acurite's servers. You are better off buying a Raspberry Pi than buying more Acurite hardware.

I have tried several times to get a code for the upgrade without success.  Again last Wednesday with my MAC address.  I tried calling this morning and was told I was number 11 in line and based on past experience I didn't have an hour to pay for on the phone.

Please check my response and send a code or contact me directly at my registered email address for this account.  I have over the years acquired four bridges as I have upgraded systems so have ample MAC addresses although only one bridge has ever been in use.

I hope you can find the error which is preventing me from getting in contact with you.  All my email box shows is "no signal received" at various times for the last five months.

I just wanted to convey my disappointment and anger that you are discontinuing a product that I just spent a lot of time researching and money to purchase and have installed. Because we live in a heavily treed area, the only place I could install my weather station was on the roof and being a senior, I had to pay almost as much as the unit itself to have it professionally installed.

One reason why I chose the unit I did was so that I could monitor it anywhere when not at home. To be honest, I remember seeing a previous email, but did not have time to really understand it due to my wife’s serious health condition as I have become her caregiver.

It took me several months to find someone who could install it for me so I haven’t had that much time getting use from it. If I had known that you were discontinuing it, I would have chosen something else. Even Microsoft supports their products longer than that.

I am very disappointed in AcuRite.
