Europe based weather station

I'm based in France and was wondering whether the issue of device location is likely to be addressed again I know it's been raised in the past but that was before the new platform). My profile account is registered to my French address but for the device location I'm only able to insert US, Canada or Australian addresses. Whilst I appreciate that your devices are intended for a particular market, I purchased the 5 in 1 weather station as it seemed to me to be the best out there for my needs (found nothing to change incidentally). At the moment it's necessary to insert a US zip code when providing the device location and I was wondering how difficult it would be to replace zip code with long / lat. At the moment the new platform (miles better than the old one by the way) displays the correct information from the 5 in 1 but the time line is set to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin because of the requirement to insert the zip code. Clearly the sensor is able to provide local data but it would be nice to get forecast and weather outlooks for the local area rather than WI.

Hello Neil,

As of right now that is the only way for you to get the information. Your forecasting will not be correct, as it does go by the address that the device is registered to. We apologize for any inconvenience and are looking to expand in the future. Have a good day!

Same here in Norway. Would be great to have the possibility to add long/lat instead of zip codes for the station location.

Hello All,

The country code will not change. Those are the only available countries on My AcuRite right now. We are looking to expand our product in different counties but as of right now on My AcuRite these are the only countries available. Thank you.

Hi; I live in Norway and I'm seriously considering buying an Acurite  weather station. I was thinking of maybe this model -the 02064. I have read that this will not work properly if outside the USA. What exactly is it that will not work?

Hello Osmund,

There are somethings that will not work. For example when setting the time and date the available time zones are EST, AST, NST, HAT, AKT, PST, MST, and CST, the power supply,  and the location details on My AcuRite would not be able to be entered in as this is only available in the US, Canada, and UK, and Australia.

Well then, if I don't use the my acurite functionality, I will at least get accurate local forcasts on my display from my 5 in 1 sensor. Right?? That's what's important. As for the power suppl, no problem.

Hello Osmund,

You should receive an accurate forecast reading. I have provided you with the link for additional information on how the forecasting works.

Hello Alessio,

To place an order via AcuRite.com you would need to have the billing and shipping address in the United States or Canada. If the card doesn't meet those requirements then an order would not go through on AcuRite.com.

Ok I give up. :-( very sad to read that, why I can't buy with a mastercard that I always use to buy items from internet (also in USA...) is very weird.
Sorry to read this cause your weather station is probably the best in efficiency /cost rate.
Thanks anyway for the answer.

Hello All,

Please understand that currently the My AcuRite and it's products are only supported within the US, Canada, and UK. As we expand into other areas we will be making adjustments to the program to allow for these types of things that might appear in other countries/languages. Thank you.

AcuRite has the ability to expand it's sales by 1000 ́% AND JUST LET IT GO !
It's just a mater of software adjustment to make these wonderful devices work in the EU ,and your
company is not interested in these extra customers ,are you a commercial company or a hobby shop ?

Hello Juliaan,

It is a little more than software adjustments. We would have to make adjustments to the product itself such as the power supply along with adjustments to the software.  We currently sell our products in the Unites States and Canada.  We have select products that are sold in the U.K. and Australia. We are always looking to expand our business and when we do we would make the necessary implementations. We do appreciate your feedback.

The power supply should be fine, as the device allows 110-240v, so would work in EU.  We only need to buy a €1 power adaptor.  So, back to being software only ;-)

Hello David,

It depends on the model number of the weather station that you are talking about. All of our stations do not use that voltage. As stated before it is something we will consider for future development. It is not a guarantee that it will happen but is a possibility that we could expand to these regions in the future. Thank you.

Power supply is no excuse. I sourced power supplies with the correct specs, and 100-240 VAC, from Amazon. Retail was ~ 6 USD. My two 5-in-1 stations with feeds to Accurite and WeatherUnderground have been working well in Thailand for nearly two years.

Nearly every device one buys these days, which uses a power supply, the power supply is dual voltage.

Your single voltage power supplies probably cost more to source than dual voltage would.

Software would seem to be the barrier, mainly adjustments for southern hemisphere, but also date formats, etc.

Hello Marshall,

We were simply giving examples as to things that would need to be adjusted. The power supply is one of these things. It is not an excuse. These are things that would have to be adjusted. If a customer in Europe used a power supply from the United States that comes with our product, we have seen where it has fried the weather station, and then they are without a weather station. We do recommend people who use the product internationally to use power converters. If we were to take it to Europe we would have to provide the correct power supply. Some of our stations do have this as we sell in the UK but this is select products that have the correct adapters with them. The software would be another thing seeing as now the time zones are programmed for locations in the United States and Canada.  We have expanded into the UK and Australia, and as we expand in other countries we will make those adjustments.

Actually, all it takes it a simple 230v-120v plug adapter to use the power supply that comes with the unit. I know because I just did so. The power supply is rated at 120-230v. (read the label).

This is extremely disappointing. Acurite weather stations are are sold by Amazon UK and other European vendors.

As a software engineer I would be very surprised if the necessary coding changes are more than minimal.

I'm new to this and i'm thinking of buying an acurite weather station, but not with the smart hub though. I want maybe the My connect version.I live in Norway so I would like some info on the problem with these not working in Europe. What's the problem with the forecast not being correct? Isn't the forecast based on the local measurements taken by the acurite weather station?

Our customers are our #1 priority. We will certainly keep this in mind for possible future updates to the site. The location detail on My AcuRite come from Google Maps and your forecasting comes from Dark sky. Thank you.

Hello
The forecast is a problem, but not a big issue, there are enough forecasts around. (the forecast is based on many local measurments from the station area). However, there are other annoying issues, such as the date and hour that are important, for example, to determine the daily rain total.

Power supply is just a really lazy excuse.  The software is easily fixed.  I think this is just about market.  I read once that more table saws are sold in US in one year, than all of EU, and given the multiple languages etc, they just can't be bothered, it's not worth it.  I don't even believe it's in the UK either, as I have not been able to find anything, and if it is supported in UK, then GMT / BST should show up.
