Does Access upgrade requires a new WU Station ID

For those who have received and activated their Access, did you have get a new WU Station ID?

I am still getting through the myacurite site 'Weather Underground Station is already in use' when I attempt to share weather to the WU site.  I understand WU is having massive issues right now.

Uploading to myacurite is working fine.

You do not need a new WU Station id.
Just stop sharing from your old Hub and start sharing from the new Access.

There may be issues currently due to WU being completely messed up, but that's not an Acurite issue.

AcuRite could have really helped it's user community out by providing a FAQ for those of us replacing our existing Hubs with the Access. As it exists the only information/instructions are for brand new users. They took the time to give all of us existing Hub users a good discount to purchase an Access, why not provide some instructions?

Got it,. Sorry, I thought my comment was clear that I was referring to the lack of migration instructions and a FAQ for those of us that are migrating from an existing Hub, not the generic how to turn it on and connect it instructions. As I said in another post, I find it odd that AcuRite would go to all the trouble of sending an email to existing Hub users offering the special pricing but including absolutely no migration instructions or guidance. Instead their users are left trying to find out that information on their own. They don't even have any of that information anywhere on their website that I have been able to find.

Here is how I changed mine out, without getting a new WUID. Not sure if it worked 100% but I didn't get any errors so far.
1. Install batteries.
2. Plug in Access hub to network, leaving old hub still connected to network.
3. Plug in power to Access hub.
4.Wait awhile. Mine seemed quick but your mileage my vary.
5. Go to the phone app and add the hub (settings/ add devices).
6. Enter MAC address found on bottom of hub, along with country and zip code.
7. You now have 2 hubs. Wait again a little while.
8. Attach your sensors. Both hubs can receive from the sensors at the same time.
9. App should report same temp and humidity for both new and old. Rain data is not carried over.
10. Turn off sharing on old hub and turn on the new hub. No new ID needed.
11. WU appears to receive data from the new hub as if nothing has changed.

I will keep both connected until problems arise. Will also report any additional problems as I discovere them in the coming days, if any.

I cannot stop sharing my old hub since when I try to access it, I get the Weather Underground Station ID when I try to share it and I get an error stating That SmartHub is owned by someone else when I try to access it.

I didn't see any error like that. The only thing that's happened is I had gotten a couple of "lost contact for 2 hours" messages but I think this may be due to a network problem on my end. Are you sure you are logged in with the same email for both WU and Acurite.

Hello James,

You would go to My AcuRite go to share weather and highlight the station you are sharing by clicking the bubble on the left side of the page. It will then give you the option to edit the Weather Underground sharing. This is where you would change the information or remove it. You would then add the Weather Underground sharing back with your AcuRite Access as the connection or Edit so the AcuRite Access is the connection. Please let us know if there is anything we can assist you with.

Hello All,

In My AcuRite since a new device is being detected you may need to remove your Weather Underground credentials and add them back in. Make sure you have the right connection selected and the correct sensor selected. Once that is done save the information, and you should start transmitting to Weather Underground with your AcuRite Access.

Jennifer,

I did what you suggested and I am still getting the Station ID in use error when I attempt to share my old WU ID on the myaccurite app.  I can send the station ID via a direct e-mail.  I prefer not to post it on the forum.

Hello James,

We see you are transmitting online with a  new station ID. The reason it would not allow the other one is because you still have the account with your smartHUB on My AcuRite. It is registered to the Gmail account, and the AcuRite Access account is registered to the  Hotmail account.  You would need to delete the Weather Underground sharing from your smartHUB account to add it to the Access account. It looks like you got it up and running with a new ID so you should be all set. Please let us know if there is anything further we can assist you with.
