Dashboard Signal Strength Indicator

How is the signal strength for the calculated for the smartHub.  I can see that the transmit signal from the 5+1 sensor  averages between 20 to 25dB above the noise floor.  My display shows 4 bars but the dashboard indicates 1 bar and the status is weak.

The display and smartHUB transmit signal differently. The display goes based off data packets. You should always have 4 bars on your display. If you are seeing any less than 4 bars then you are missing data packets and transmissions. The smartHUB provides you with the true signal strength coming from the sensor. You need at least 1 bar to transmit online. Some people have been able to improve their signal strength by moving the smartHUB out as far from the router as possible, and or rotating it 90 degrees as well.

The smartHub is away from the router.  Rotating the smartHub does not improve the signal strength.  Have another 433MHz antenna located near the smartHub and the reception seems fine (averages between 20 to 25dB above the noise floor).  Looks like  I receive packets every 18 seconds. What is the minimum receive signal level of the signal the smartHub needs to see? Is there a way to include the actual receive signal level on the dashboard?  This would help users place the smartHub in a location with the best reception.

Hello storm017,

When rotating the smartHUB we recommend leaving the unit in one spot for a period of two days to really determine the best signal strength.  The smartHUB only needs one signal bar to receive all data packets from your sensor.  At this time you cannot see the signal strength indicator for the HUB unless you hover over your colored status bar.  Some may not see an update on the signal strength for up to two days at this time.
