Confusion about the smartHUB nonsense

Okay, so I got the same emails as everyone else, fine. But it's unclear what "end of service" means here. I understand end of support, that's reasonable enough, lots of things do that and I rarely use "official" tech support for things anyway. But I'm seeing a number of things that imply that somehow my smartHUB will just cease to work? I don't see how that's possible, or legal. It's certainly not ethical. Let people use older hardware and fend for themselves with support for it; that hurts no one, except that it means you don't profit from forcing them to buy new hardware.

We have a 5-in-1 weather station + display, and we were only able to splurge on that finally (we'd wanted one for years) because I got on disability and got an enormous backpay check. We're very poor, and we don't just have $40 (plus whatever outrageous shipping is involved) to throw at something that isn't actually needed. At the very least, extend the discount code viability to match the end of service/support date.

Come on, AcuRite, the clock is ticking on that stupid discount code. At this point we're honestly looking at not getting the Access and just riding out the smartHUB to the end of its life (or not, since that question hasn't been answered for me yet) and then switching to someone with more reliable customer service and products. The weather station itself has been fine, but the old Internet Bridge was trouble most of the time we had it, and I had some trouble with the smartHUB initially. There's also the fact that the weather station's been up for about two years, which would make the Access the third hub device in that time period, which seems bad and inefficient.

Try another company, Access is nothing buy trouble with no solution from Acurite.

Sounds like a plan. It has mediocre reviews on Amazon already, and yeah, most of them mentioned that it doesn't work well AND AcuRite customer service sucks.

Your Smarthub will 100% not work at the end of service.  Your local display will.  That means no access to information online.

Okay, that's what I figured, but it never specifically said that at any point. The Wunderground link is half of why we wanted the station in the first place, otherwise that would be fine. Thanks for clarifying!
