Hello Doug,

Please try the factory reset steps below:

To do a factory reset: (THIS WILL CLEAR ALL OF YOUR HISTORY AND YOUR SETTINGS)

Please verify that you are using a name brand (Rayovac or Energizer) standardalkaline batteries in the display unit. We do not recommend using anything thatis heavy duty, rechargeable, store brand or Lithium inside of the display.

- Remove all power, AC adapter and batteries, from the display unit.
- Press and hold down the pin hole reset button, located in the batterycompartment, for 20 seconds.
- Plug back into AC power and insert recommended batteries.
- Press and hold down the pin hole reset button for an additional 20seconds.
- Verify that the unit has powered on and once connection has been made,attempt to set time and date.

I have the same issue. Unplugging for five minutes and replugging does not cause unit to go into setup mode. BTW, this unit does not have any batteries or reset pinhole button.

Hello Doug & Peter,

If you press the gear button on the display and wait a minute nothing comes up on the display? If you were to hit the middle button on the display the one that has a square inside the button does anything appear on the display?   The troubleshooting provided is a troubleshooting provided to everyone. If you do not have a battery backup or a reset button you would skip those steps.  The factory reset on this specific display would be in the menu records which you would need the gear button to work in order to get to it.   You can contact our AcuRite Loyalty Team at 262-249-3259 to initiate a warranty claim on your display.
