Backlight problems with my 01512A1 display.

I am again having backlight problems with my 01512A1 display. The backlight will not stay on. My previous display was replaced because of the same problem. I know that I can get the light to stay on for some time by doing a system reset, but this loses all of the stored data. I have tried the unit on other circuits, but the problem remains.

Hello John,

Are you using the adapter as the main source of power? What brand of battery are you using in the display? The following instructions should help resolve any issues you are having with your display.

To do a pinhole reset: (THIS WILL CLEAR ALL OF YOUR HISTORY AND YOUR SETTINGS)

Please verify that you are using a name brand (Rayovac or Energizer) standard alkaline batteries in the display unit. We do not recommend using anything that is heavy duty, rechargeable, store brand or Lithium inside of the display.

- Remove all power, AC adapter and batteries from the display unit.
- Press and hold down the pin hole reset button, located in the battery compartment, for 20 seconds.
- Plug back into AC power and insert recommended batteries.
- Press and hold down the pin hole reset button for an additional 20 seconds.
- Verify that the unit has powered on and once connection has been made, attempt to set time and date.

Same responses as usual.  We are using Energizer batteries and the adapter is the main source of power.  I have gone through the reset so many times that I have it memorized.  It works for a while, and I lose east access to accumulated data.

I am going to wait for the board to fix itself as it did with the backlight.  If that doesn't work, I will fall back on a reset.

We have already replaced the display once.  I suspect that we will just have to put up with its problems.  It now displays only symbols on the weather ticker.  Sigh!
