backlight can't adjust after power outage.

After disconnecting the power and moving the base unit the ability to adjust the backlight with a gentle finger tap is now not working. I'm suspicious I will have to remove batteries and turn off power to reset. Does this mean anytime there is a power outage I'm going to lose the ability to adjust backlight and the only way to rectify is by turning off with no batteries, thus losing all data?

My display buttons stopped responding a week or so ago. I don't think I lost power. This affected all buttons on the display. The data displayed on the unit was being updated though. I took the batteries out and unplugged it hoping that would reset it without losing the data or calibration. That was to avoid using the reset button on the back as the manual indicates that does tease data. My unit had been on for just over 2 weeks when that happened. It had just finished self calibrating so I wondered if that had something to do with it as it was the only thing I knew that had changed.

Hello Tony & Tony,

We would recommend doing a factory reset. Once you have done this is should correct the backlight problem to where you should not have to do it again.

To do a factory reset: (THIS WILL CLEAR ALL OF YOUR HISTORY AND YOUR SETTINGS)

Please verify that you are using a name brand (Rayovac or Energizer) standardalkaline batteries in the display unit. We do not recommend using anything thatis heavy duty, rechargeable, store brand or Lithium inside of the display.

- Remove all power, AC adapter and batteries, from the display unit.
- Press and hold down the pin hole reset button, located in the batterycompartment, for 20 seconds.
- Plug back into AC power and insert recommended batteries.
- Press and hold down the pin hole reset button for an additional 20seconds.
- Verify that the unit has powered on and once connection has been made, attempt to set time and date

This seems to have done the trick. Put energizer gold batteries in and did the reset, on mine it's just the press of a button in the battery compartment.Very happy with the unit overall. Thanks
