I’m doing the same thing! PLUS the ambient weather has a 16 second update rate, and it appears to deal with peak wind speeds much better that the pathetic acuwrong thing.
I’m done feeding these clowns any more money. They just don’t have a clue what they are doing and make poor products with no support.
Goodbye acuwrong and good riddance!

If you simply want WiFi connectivity from a 5n1 to wunderground, you can do that for $99 at a local Home Depot.

And you should be aware the "10-in-1" Ambient is claim is very misleading, if not dishonest.

There are only 7 sensors in the outdoor unit.  Just 2 more than Acurite's 5n1.  (UV and solar radiation)

To get to 10 sensors, Ambient is also counting the display having a barometer, indoor temp, and indoor humidity.  Acurite has those sensors, too.  They just don't count them as part of the outdoor sensor.

So in "Ambient-Speak", Acurite's 5n1 would be an 8n1.

Also, the update rate of WS-2902 to the internet is actually 60 seconds, not 16 according to Ambient's web page.  (16-second updates are only to the console.)  Acurite reports 18-second updates to wunderground through the Access.

The one plus is that the 2902 sends the indoor temp and humidity to the Ambient web site so you don't have to buy an extra sensor if you want to see the indoor reading remotely.

However you can't add additional sensors to the 2902.

The ability to add up to 7 sensors is a big plus for the Access unit.

Sir Mak, if we submit to AcuRites extortion and send them more money, we get to add 7 sensors instead of being able to add the 10 we can with the “old” technology. What a bargain! What an upgrade! Great how Acurite thought this through and thought about their customers!
It’s only been a couple of years since the infamous “let’s brick our customers smarthubs with a forced and useless update” fiasco and now we are expected to trust these clowns that the new and improved offering that has less functionality is worth continuing to invest money in the brand.
No thanks! Acurite just can’t get things right!
Have you seen the pathetic iOS app? Scaling that doesn’t make any sense, right down to a negative wind speed! How much more proof do we need that Acurite suck? Their own software says so! Horrible user interface design overall. History that offers a year or more in the options but back ends that only keep 31 days. And this is after 2 years of bug fixes and “improvements”.
It’s just pathetic and to be forced to pay if we want to continue to use the gear the we for... well that IS extortion!

BTW, to anyone considering paying their ransom, you might want to inspect your sensor before making a decision. Mines badly cracked as the plastic has gone brittle in the weather (sigh.... who makes an outdoor weather station out of plastic that deteriorates in weather?).
If I have to replace everything anyway, I see no compelling reason to stay with these incompetent, crooked, clowns.

Something here is badly cracked, and it ain't the sensor!
