AcuRite5in1 1035 Loss of signal

I get the message of loss of signal message once a day, or two, or four..or .Why?  A restart of the Dell usually gets the program working again.  I am a Mac user but this Dell was bought for the AcuRite before any Mac beta began so I am stuck with the Windoz/AcuRite combo.
So, these disconnections are a Windoz problem or the AcuRite software problem?  At least the Windoz software is patched/updated quite frequently and PC Connect is still the same version from the beginning.  This seems very strange as I have never seen major software not be updated quite frequently.  Is PC Connect from above and never needs updating or are the programmers incapable of repairing bugs and making improvements? Or is AcuRite too cheap to hire programmers to do the repair job? OR?
On a positive note, hardware seems ok but a pain to replace the batteries.

Hello Keith,

Make sure that your PC does not go into sleep mode. In order for the information to transmit online, the following things need to happen.

You need to keep the display plugged into the computer

You need to have the software running

The computer needs to stay on and running (going into sleep mode will prevent any readings from transmitting)

The computer needs to be online at all times

If one of these things is not happening that could be why you are disconnecting. Thank you.

Rachel,
Of course the computer is on 24/7 with battery backup and, of course, the usb is connect 24/7.  Other than Folding@Home, the computer is weather station exclusive.

you did not respond to my comment of no program update for PC Connect. Windoz has patched probably ten times since the installation of PC Connect on the new micro Dell.  Either your programmers "walk on water" or the program desperately needs some bug fixes!
Keith
ps Oh, I am far from a newbie on computers having started with a mainframe back in 1969.  So i think I must know a little bit about what them.

Hello,
I gave up with the window version pcConnect on the Dell and installed pcConnect on my mac.  Same problem, well not entirely.  WU gives this message verysoon after starting the program.

This PWS is not reporting Last updated: 2/1/2018, 12:40:19 PM,

PCConnect says data is being sent to both but it lies as shown above. MyAcurite seems to remain receiving the data.

Help

Hello Keith,

Please factory reset your display. To do so, press and hold the reset button located inside the battery compartment for 10-12 seconds. Have you tried a new USB cord?  Thank you.

Rachel, Thank you for your reply.  I'll try resetting the display but why does resetting the display have anything to do with with the software sending data to My AcuRite and especially to WU??  There is usually a long period of time before it stops sending to MyAcuRite but within minutes it stops sending to WU.
AND, why is the software, PC Connect, still telling me it is still receiving data and is sending data to both??
This is the fourth computer I have had this software on, two Dells, Windows8 and Windows10 and now two different Macs OS10.12.  The problem is always the same, it stops sending yet it tells me that it is.
In my 32 years of using software, I have never been as frustrated with software as I am with PC Connect, Window and Mac versions,.  AcuRite needs new software engineers!
Again thank you for your reply.

Hello Keith,

We apologize for your frustration. By restarting the display and putting it back in USB mode 3 this will start the display fresh with data. If there is corrupt data in the display for some reason it may have a hard time getting through even though it says it is.  Please attempt the steps and if that doesn't correct the issue please let us know. Thank you.

Hi Jennifer,

I have reset the display and changed the cable but no change.  I don't look at the display often but when I do it seems to be accurate.  It is your software, PCConnect, that does not work..period.  When I restart the software it usually sends to MyAcurite right away.  Then after several minutes WU data is  usually sent.  Then within minutes or maybe hours it will stop sending to WU and then later stop sending to MyAcurite.  That is the way it has worked with the Windoz8 and 10 on two different Dell machines and now on two different Macs.

To put an exclamation point to the sorry software, if I click "Send to MyAcurite" before it says it has received the data, it will tell me it is sending even though it does not have the data yet. And even after I get the messages from WU and from Acurite that they are not receiving my data, the dumb software still tells me it is sending to both.

I have given up on the software and purchased the Acurite Connect which, so far, works perfectly.  My conclusion is that Acurite makes decent hardware but sh*** software.  Acurite desperately needs to get new programmers.

Let me add this, I have a second weather station, a Davis VantagePro2  using WeatherCat software and both work without fault..always.  So I know how software is supposed to work.

I know you are in a difficult position trying to defend and support PCConnect.  Thanks for your response.
